----- Sat. Today, 09:10 PM Robin Linden Linden lifer Slow Log-Ins We're aware of the log-in problems, and please be aware that we're doing everything possible to address it. There are fixes in 1.6.5 which should help, and more planned for 1.7.

Login Problems To expand a bit on Chris and Robin's posts, nearly the entire development team is currently focused on fixing them. 1.6.5 should give us significant head room, but that is not the only planned change. Login and related scaling issues will remain our primary focus until we are certain that we can scale SL to many times the current user base.
I know that the current problems are incredibly frustrating, so please help us by testing out the 1.6.5 preview. In addition, expect a pretty rapid sequence of previews and releases over the next weeks and months in order to put these problems to rest once and for all. ---

Heh, let me get this straight, OK? Hundreds of people are all over these forums asking the Lindens to fix the login problem, and they've already said - somewhere, somewhen - that Second Life will be effectively down until Tuesday? Four days from now? After I finish my hearty laugh, I'm going to go read a book.

They still need to be here now, and from a quality customer service POV, issue not yet another apology, but give their customer base an update on what's been happening in the past 24 hours. I've never seen this many people on the Forums at anytime on a Sat. These are unusual times, and the LL pro-active voice needs to be heard.

I'm not sure what the extent of the problem is. Robin suggests that there are people actually getting into SL. I haven't been able to get in for 4 days. It times out at "waiting for a response", although once I was able to get through to "contacting server" before it timed out.
Are people actually getting in? I know many who aren't. What's the discrepancy?

I've been able to get in. You just have to have enough patience. The timeout/failure usually takes just over 3 minutes, and one time it took me 15 tries to get in. Today I was curious and watched SecondLife.log in the console, and saw all the error messages as the connection was flailing about like a catfish on hot pavement.
But when you get in the world is a ghost town. We cancelled an event on account of rain. The login storms kept everyone away.

Okay, I was able to get in and was stuck in the island sandbox. I was not there when i last logged out lol. So, I was like np, I'll just tp home lol. No luck! So, I tried to tp Grim to me at the sandbox, since he's the main reason I was trying to get on, no luck. Saw David Valentino there, he was trying to escape as well. So, I remember that the Lindens have this magic power that can force tp you when you get stuck. So, I im'd Adam Linden and he forced tp'd me out of the island and into a black space! My map went red and then I crashed. Adam felt really bad, he said they are doing what they can. So, I'm giving up for tonight, Thanks Adam for your help. Gnite all, MJ
