Fix the ratings system (not the money, the negativity!)

Look I loved the ratings system, but there's something brutally wrong with it. I have a new neighbor, who will remain nameless (for now) and he is a complete disturbance. When I try to build things, he comes in and gets in the way. He just wants to goof around and play, which is fine, but only if I want to get along, which at the moment I didn't want to because I'm trying to make a nice game for Ben :D

So I tell the guy to leave and he goes and makes a huge box with "I'm better than Dave!" written on all sides, he attaches it to his body, and flies around annoying me even more, getting in the way, not leaving. So I tell him to please leave or I'll ask a Linden to help me out. He doesn't care so I call on Dan. Dan says "rate him negatively". So I figure okay, I'll do it. So I rate the guy negatively, and he rates me negatively, and he just stays there...

So with the beginning (Guy won't stop annoying me) and the ending (Guy won't stop annoying me and I lose ratings money because he rated me negatively) I see no gain from rating this random person negatively.... So he loses some money, so what, now I do to!

Just something wrong with this system is all I'm saying...

we need a way to ban people from our land i think...that would help to keep those away we didn't want.....an ignore command would go a long way as well.....it's not nice to think about but there's always people out there that you can't always get along with....a way to avoid rather than confront would be nice to have.

I think rating system is fine, if you dont like him why would he have you marked neg? I would just do a non rate. maybe consider moving your place. Ignoring them usualy works because they get bored QUICKLY.. Good luck..,.,, he know hes bugging you ....so ignore

i would have smacked em with a cage, and then wrote a script that would throw him 60,000m above sea level, or if i was particularly disgruntled, i would of had it toss him off the sim... but that is just me :D

a cage! thats a totally GREAT idea. hahahhaa :P
make one and keep it in your inv for such emergencies.. then THWAP! cage on top of them! and as long as they annoy you just keep caging them until they spend all their money teleporting or get bored tp'ing home/coming back:P

I think the ignore is a good idea.

Ignore should include whatever they are saying(incl IM), ban from your property and a specified radius from your av.

not specific radius....you shouldn't be allowed to keep him away from somehwere you are...if you both go to an event just ignore them...but you can't keep them away just cuz you are threre....

the radius can be small, like personal body space. Its meant more for keeping them from bumping you (& still bugging you) than from keeping them from an event you are also at.

Negative rating must be anonymous, and that's that, otherwise it's completely useless.

Ignore is another excellent idea to get rid of annoying chat traffic.

Warning, like on aim, would also be a good idea. It should add the text ";(Warning: XX%)" to the text above their head, and wear off after a while. Also the option to add an explanatory note would be useful (the note should show up in that users profile). That way if some one is a public nuisance, or a pedophile or whatever, they can be tagged as such.

Also, I'm planning on starting a security company at some point in the future.
Here is a list of systems I'm planning on making:
+ Force Feild (repells unwanted visitors)
+ Motion Sensing Turret (kills unwanted visitors)
+ Security Bot (Patrols area, allows you to interrogate AVs remotely and give orders to the Bot, to allow the person, or blast them into the next sim)
+ Search Bot (A bot that intelligently searches populated areas for a specific person, and then notifies you of there location)
+ Search & Destory Bot (same a search bot, only it shoots the person when it finds them)
+ Search & Capture Bot (same as search bot, only it traps the person in a cage)

I will also build custom systems.

Let me know if you are interested, these are currently on my back burner but if there is sufficient interest I'll get started sooner.

Hey,

I already made a security system capable of removing another av form your land, and making sure they stay off. You can buy it at B.Farichilds, or talk to me in game for a discount.

It will send any unwanted guest to the Disco, where they can dance the night away.

haahaha thanks a lot for the help guys :)

to Jean Cook:
he rated me negatively after I rated him negatively, simply because I rated him negatively...

i hope you understood that :)

the guy has gotten less annoying since i've complained about him, but i'm definitely gonna punish him if he does something bad again (after a warning of course) he seems to be of a much younger/immature generation than the usual SL gamer, which is why he's so annoying ;)

we'll see what happens and if things need to be changed to fix it... :p
