I have already e-mailed support about this issue, but I am posting my results here, cuz I am just a tad peeved....
Here is the e-mail I sent the Lindens...
Dear All Lindens,
My name in game is Lillyana Hoffman.
On Sunday, May 15th I attended an event in Le Cadre' as I always do most nights. I and a few others where using my Chimera made by Owenimations. I had to leave, but I removed my Chimera from my person and placed it on the floor of Pure Passion, so others could still use it. I work in Le Cadre' and Sensual is always very good about returning things.
So on Monday morning before the update, Sensual returned all stray objects form the island. I know this, because I got an e-mail about being returned to me. Later that night, when I was scheduled to DJ, I went in my INV looking for my Chimera and it was no where to be found. I IMed Jill Linden about it and she said if it wasn't to me by today I should e-mail you.
I wouldn't be upset, but a lot of lindens went into getting that Chimera just the way I wanted it. Not only that, but some of the dances are no longer being made or I cannot find them anymore within the game. Where could it have gone? I really hope that you can help me out...I want my dances back....
Thanks a lot,
Suzanne Gertz AKA Lillyana Hoffman
And here is what I got back...
Hello:
Thanks for your inquiry. We did experience temporary logins issue late
last week and over the weekend due to a high database load. We have
since resolved the issue, however, you will need to download and install
a new client to run Second Life.
If you get an error that says there is a problem with a .tmp.exe file
when downloading the update you will need to goto: c:\Documents and
Settings\(yourusername)\Local Settings\Temp and delete the contents of
your Temp folder. Next, please goto the Add/Remove Programs tool in
your Windows Control Panel and uninstall any and all versions of Second
Life. Finally, please goto http://secondlife.com/download and download
and install the latest release of Second Life.
As always, with an update, if you are running a firewall, while most
will autodetect the change and ask you to accept the change, some
firewalls may need to be manually configured to accept the changed
executable file. This especially true with the 1.6 release where we
changed the executable file name from newview.exe to SecondLife.exe As
a result, some of your shortcuts may be broken as well.
Finally, though they have never been supported, with this latest update
we did include changes which will irrevocably break Windows 9x and ME
versions as well as any XP installation not running at least Service
Pack 1.
I apologize for this "form letter" type of email, and, if you are still
continuing to experience issues and have followed the above steps,
please feel free to respond to this email or send in a new support request.
Thanks for all your patience with this issue.
Regards,
Colin Linden
So I proceeded to return....
