1. Have person or ALT pose question regarding product
2. Let other people respond
and/or
3. Follow up with clarification

How to troll the forums for fun:

1. Have person or ALT pose question regarding product
2. Let other people respond
and/or
3. Follow up with "clarification"

Were you just angry at my post or did you have a point?

Isn't there a third option?

You tell me, truly I am puzzled. Usually you make sense to me.

I was merely trying to illuminate the technique of the whisper campaign in forums in order to educate people to be more savvy when they see them.

What were you trying to do?

I was merely trying to illuminate the technique of the ... something or other... um... that thing... in order ot educate people to be more savvy when they see them.

Actually, I'm simply illustrating that the difference between an active troll and someone obesessed with "illuminating" forum readers is negligible.

But to address the question at hand... hold on... you didn't post a question. OK, then to respond to the non-question at hand, why do you feel it's important to post using an alt? Is it vital to deceive readers in order to make a point?

Are you alluding to my post about vendors, blaze? That post which was started because I just moved to new land, and am in the middle of creating a new salespace. I was uninterested in using the free vendor scripts which I had already used previously, and wanted to know what other products were out there. A search for "vendors" in world is completely worthless, and I didn't see anything on SLExchange or SLBoutique. Thus, in order to avoid roaming 20 square miles of world looking for vendors to try, I turned to the community for help in choosing a vendor.

In the future, I'll be sure to run my posts by you to ensure that I don't unwittingly do anything to violate the seemingly arbitrary and illogical code of forum conduct which you always try to impose on others.

I was alluding to a bunch of advertisements I have been secretly posting via ALTs in various SL forums.

You are not, you are endorsing the use of alts as a way to further a business agenda.

You may do this, but it doesn't make anyone trust you. I think it's a downright dirty tactic.

Describing a technique does not mean you are endorsing the usage of said technique.

Yes, but *you* do it. You lead by example. I just hope you're not leading anyone.

I'm really stupid. I couldn't possibly figure stuff like this out for myself. So thank you for the valuable public service.
