I went back to hosting Show & Tell in Oak Grove at the request of a friend who missed it so much that this person generously donated the prize money for me to host this event again.
At 1,000 L$ per event this person has contributed 6,000 in Prize Money. Well last nite this generousity went a step further....
At one point someone shouted that there were 21 people in attendance. The fun took over and I ended up with about ten people showing some awesome work.
At the end, I awarded the Winners and thanked everyone for coming. Then I got the shock of my Second Life when people started dropping thousands of Linden Dollars on me to keep the event alive and running.
I am happy to say that I will continue to host Show and Tell for another 13 WEEKS!
A very special thank you to the following people who because of their selflessness will keep this fun event going:
FlipperPA Peregrine Kage Seraph Max Case Jon Marlin Lightwave Valkyrie Damanios Thetan
Because of ONE many more have joined in to bring you this event that personally I feel shows exactly what Second Life is all about - FUN - CREATIVITY- FRIENDSHIP
Thanks to all and see you next Sunday and every Sunday at 6PM in Oak Grove!

Glad to help. I miss show and tells - they were always a great way to see what people have been up to, and meet some new up-and-coming creative residents. Last night was no exception - the telescope and the transforming avatar were damn cool!

But soon Sweet Cheeks! In about two and a half more weeks there will be two sets of "Sweet Cheeks" coming for me to pamper. Well? What can a girl like me do when u disappear from my Second Life and take my favorite "Sweet Cheeks" away from me.
Still waiting for your visit btw!

Still waiting for your visit btw! Oh yeah. I will come visit before the birth. Good idea. Then I guess I won't see you for about, oh, 18 years after that. Cuz I'm really not into kids. Even virtual ones "Ok, kids. Time to derez you. Aunty Kris is coming over"

I've said this a few times, in various places... I don't think we need Linden support of events. I think when people make good events, they can get money from people who have money, and/or who have businesses to promote. Last night I decided to put my money where my mouth is, and made a donation to help Misty keep this cool event running. There were a bunch of other people last night (mentioned above) who did the same thing. Great event, Misty, and I look forward to attending many more... - Jon

As much as I have said we do need support for events (yet another good cause I no longer care about), I know what Misty says when she says, "I got the shock of my life when . . .". That's exactly the way it was with Game Show Channel in TSO. I had saved up all this money to do several weeks worth of shows (in addition to saving the several hundred thousand needed just to build the place), and I didn't have to save up another dime for a year after that. The only work I had to do after that was do the shows. Not only did I get donations from so many donors I no longer bothered to list them on a sign, but I had a number of people who had enough money and played for the fun of it and always gave back their winnings. It shocked me, too, at first - but it lasted so long that I got used to it, and when I stopped doing it after a year, I still had over a million Simoleons left (still do). Very satisfying, huh, Misty! Very rewarding. Not only do you get the fun and satisfaction of providing the fun, other people donate to keep it going! So this method can work. A bit of support from the game itself, though, as was provided by dwell in TSO, can help people get the show on the road, as well as help those whose entertainment may not be as popular as to provoke such donations, but is still well done and does provide an entertainment service to many. Without the support here, it's too hard for a new entertainer to even start, much less continue, an attraction that may be less stellar, or has a host not as enthusiastic or as good, but is still important and appreciated by many. coco

I enjoy hosting and my "pay" is the fun I have doing it. I hold it on Linden Land as well. This is because I have had people rez an entire FULL SIZED castle at Show and Tell.
And yes Aces Ugliest AV and other themed Show and Tells are great fun too. But with Show and Tell u can show anything and that includes AVs.
I am thinking of doing my MistyWood Squares again if I can gather 10K and fill up the squares cause that event was so much fun to do too.
Hey maybe i can do all ugly AVs in the Squares... hmmmm
Thanks again to u too to all my contributors which is why I did this post to acknowledge and thank the people who love and support these events.

My roomie Hile/Garyyy/Belly (who is also my roomie here, as Belly) hosted the Simmywood Squares every other Tuesday. Yes, it is trickier than the other games because you have to have nine celebrity plus two contestants, and there is not so much involvement from each individual as in other games. Sometimes the celebs just don't get picked! But the contestants still enjoyed doing it, and always got "paid" as the celebrity stars. Garyyy always liked getting to choose his favorite for center square, too, lol. It was oodles fun. coco

If you do a GOOD event - like one that requires some actual thought and planning - people WILL be willing to support it to keep it going. Its simple.
Run of the mill non-events, on the other hand, will be hard to gain support for.
Regards,
-Flip

Glad to hear that show and tell is back alive and kicking. That's always been my favorite kind of event to attend. I'll definitely have to start stopping by for these. Way to go Misty

I did MistyWood Squares way back in November twice. I did huge pots and had a few Linden celebrities sit in the squares along with great friends who helped fill my squares.
I did 10K pots and divided the audience into two sections the X and the O sections. So if O won then so did the O audience.
It was great fun and I would love to come to your roomie's version too! If u need a square filler I gladly volunteer.
Hugs and thanks to all. I host but u all make it work!
