Just for the halibut (sorry, too much spongebob) I ran the bandwidth test provided in the drivers / utilities page of the sl site (under the download tab above).

I thought it'd be fun if people posted their results here.

Silly me closed the page before I typed this so I'll have to retest in an hour & post my results.

I don't believe it....

I ran the test, it told me my speed is 2.4 megabits per second! Somehow I just don't think I'm really connecting that fast on my cable, but it does sound good.

That's great Tracey. I thought I got good results but apparently I need to check out some tweaks. I ran at 1.4mbps (down).

4 megabits per second. Yay cable in the middle of nowhere. Yay.

Does this mean I should up my bandwidth settings in SL?

I also got 2.4 You get 4 BBC??? wow.

2.4 megabits per second

Your raw speed was 2414106.19 bits per second which is the same as:

Communications

2.4 megabits per second

Storage

294.7 kilobytes per second

1MB file download

3.5 seconds
The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.

Rating

Compared to all connection types worldwide, yours is fantastic

Bah, I hate crowded cities. Even on DSL I'm still only squeaking through at 516.1Kbit, but the thing has the gall to tell me my connection is FANTASTIC.

Fantastic would be Mbit! Pffffft on you tester.

I'm not even going to mention my storage or download.

2.7 megabits... Yes, having cable in an area where no one else has it IS great. :D So maybe I SHOULD play with my network settings somemore...

BTW, I also did the upstream test, which says it's inaccurate for higher speeds... But I got around 270 kilobits, and that a 1 meg file would take around 30 secs to upload, which sounds right to me.

Your raw speed was 3152773.54 bits per second which is the same as:

Communications

3.2 megabits per second
How communication devices are rated. Kilo means 1,000 and mega means 1,000,000. Examples include 56k modem and 10Mbit Ethernet

Storage

384.9 kilobytes per second
The way data is measured on your hard drive and how file sharing and FTP programs measure transfer speeds. Kilo is 1,024 and mega is 1,048,576.

1MB file download

2.7 seconds
The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.
