Hosting a roundtable with Andrew Linden as a benefit for Katrina Hurricane

I'd like to host a technical event with Andrew Linden, in hopes of raising money for Katrina evacuees.

I'd also like to make it mostly technical where there would be hard core questions answered and discussed.

However, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I'd bid 10,000 L$ to host the event, and I was thinking of having X L$ per person to be at the event.

I'd also pay for some SLers to go to this event, such as Strife, who I'd donate 1000 L$ to the Katrina hurricane if he showed up and asked questions.

Would anyone else be interested? Would someone else like to host an event and bid more than me?

Post and discuss and bid :)

I prefer to make my donations directly to the official agencies that are helping the survivors of Katrina. No offense here, but ppl are already trying to take advantage of this situation in various ways rl. Since we all use screen names there is no way to verify that the funds got to where they were needed.

I have seen enough good ppl get screwed in SL, to which LL will not raise a finger to help those who got scamed.

Naw its not a popular view, but it's an honest answer.

Please post a chat log. I am very interested in seeing what he says. Also, when the heck is it? :)

Well, I believe everything is paid directly to the Lindens for things like this.

I suppose they could be keeping it for themselves, however that would be rather unexpected.

I'll pay a reasonable fee to participate anyway. You do whatever you want to with the money. Everything we do inworld doesn't have to focus on victims and refugees of Katrina.

People have chided me for not attending concerts and auctions and making massive donations to inworld relief efforts. The debate's still open on whether I should waste the time to explain to them that I live here. My family and friends are spending days and dollars helping refugee families, who will likely be here a year or more, find housing, eat, get their kids in school, feed their pets, find jobs if they can work, get to montgomery if they can't, cheer up when almost everything they ever owned is gone, why am I talking about this?

Collecting a participation fee may help to keep the discussion reasonably focused. If I bid on a Techs, I would require that they post and reply to their commentable blog regularly for a few days and advertise that fact inworld, inforum, in blog and such.

If the chat log were made available for a donation, what would be the $ equivalent of your interest?

Katt Kongo, who hosted the celebrity auction, revealed her identity in the MSNBC interview. Her credentials are posted on the Metaverse Messenger website.

Sure, sounds like fun, and for a good cause. The transcript should probably be made public.

Incidentally, my whole weekend has opened up so I'm more available this Saturday and Sunday than I would be at the end of a normal workday.
