Aaaaah, a quiet spot at work - time to hit the SL forums.
Lemme see - it's 10h15 now, and I haven't been on since yesterday afternoon, so hitting "New Posts" comes up with 9 pages of stuff. Wow. If I don't get through this fast enough, by the time I reach page 5, the system has lost my search context, so it's a flurry of scan, open interesting stuff in a new browser window, get interuupted by RL work (bah!) scan more, open more windows, etc etc
Now it's 10h45 - I only made it as far as page 7 - and even my triple-height taskbar is looking cramped with 40-50 browsers running. It's gonna take ages to read all of these, but I manage.
13h25: and I have just finished up with the last one. an interesting scripting thread to which I replied. Time to refill the coffe mug. AFK
13h27: BAK - let's see what else is new - hit "New Posts"
WTF!?!?! 4 items. Running from 13h25(the time of my last post) to 13h27(now)

What I want to see is everything since my last "New Posts" query.
I'll even take the option of searching for all posts since [this] time, but search requires an longer-than-4-letter, not-too-common word to search for.

Ideas, anyone? How do you do it?

hehe.. When I start the day with a ton of New Posts. Here is what I do.

Lets say you have 3 pages (or however many). Just open one browser window for each and minimize all but the first one. As you read the threads on that page, don't use the links, just hit your back button. It will take you back to the threads you have not read yet on that page, but you won't have to worry that the page was updated.

When you get through all the pages like that. Then hit New Posts again. Works like a charm. :D

Now.. who is going to be the first to call me a total goober??? :p :o

That's sadly exactly how I do it. Only by the time I get down to 17 or so open browser windows my pc ends up almost crashing because I also had photoshop, winamp, email, various IM programs, Feedreader, Boinc & SL running at once...So I end up dragging the links of the remaining open windows to my desktop so I'll finish reading them after I reboot.
Only by then there are more new forum messages so I start the process over. At the end of the day I shove all those little links I never got to into a folder called "Forum links I'll probably never read."
I'm a forum junky I guess. Which is ironic since I rarely post. :o

Sun
(I wish firefox had that handy pull the upper left hand icon to the desktop thing like IE does. It's the one thing that makes me not convert completely.)

Really? So your experience of SL is something along the lines of 40 people come crashing into your sim, randomly insult each other, call each other stupid and their arguments ignorant/strawman/hyperbole, accuse each other of being alts and/or racists, talk round in circles seemingly not even understanding the conversation they're supposed to be having, then when they have nothing left to bitch at each other about they spam each other with stoopid textures, then AR each other and leave?

Fun. Glad my SL experience was never quite like that.

Nah, *those* forums I skip (most of the time) but there's a lot of damn intersting things going on on the forums. It's like being able to run through the whole SL world at near-light speed, finding all the intersting chats, chirping my bit and running on.
AAAAAND it's more fun than work. :D

I didn't know there were any, where are they?

I use Konfabulator's multi news reader widget for RSS BTW, I really like the way it works.

Ben asks a good question... I'd like an easier way to automate showing of new posts, or be able to show 250 new threads per page or something. 25/page is puny! :(

Some readers don't like it if the file it's loading doesn't have a .xml extension, the links work.
