However, yes it would appear that they're not turning a profit yet, thanks for finding it. _____________________

Again this is another topic started by a question the lindens have allready explained....
They still have a lot of VC to pay off as such, so are currently not making a profit. But are still well funded and are on the right track to make a profit in time to come. Word to that effect were said by a linden that I asked. I will not name names, but if you dont take my word for it, post in the help line and get the same response. _____________________

And whereas in most professions these would be considerable drawbacks, in chartered accountancy they are a positive boon. |

Feel free to ask yourself
"Are you cash flow positive"? You'll get a no answer. I'll bet you any amount of lindens. _____________________

thank you.
So they expect to meet that market this year. Therefore I suppose let them find out if they can. Their investors (the ones who brought the 8 million in funding in recently) evidently must see this as a resaonble investment. As far as players go, their chocies to spend money in many cases will have nothing to do with how much money Second Life makes for Linden Labs. I still question your motives Blaze. Indeed though i doubt the naysayers in general on these forums have much influence, the fact that there is constant harping on SL being a <bad investment> is a potential self fufiling prophesy. I believe other used FUD. Using some exageration as an example: a- SL isnt cash flow positive you shouldnt invest. b- your right i wont and ill tell all of my friends not to. LL - wow look at all those people who just tiered down =/ ------------ It actually reads more like LL and SL are on the verge of being profitable, therefore the optomistic take on it is. If players pretty much spend according to the trend they will turn a proffit some time this year. If customers are even more enthusiastic .. well that just increases the chances, doesnt it? |

The average time for any new business to begin seeing a profit is after the first five years. For LL, that's this year. If it turns out to be true that they "hit the mark" this year, that would make LL a text book statistic. In other words, perfectly normal.
Also, the trend in the last 200 years of American business has been that if your company survives the first 5 years, then it more than likely will survive to 10. If it's healthy at 10, then it most likely will make it to 20. If it's healthy at 20, it probably will make it to 50. If it's healthy at 50, it's permanent. _____________________

Most MMOs do not see profit until the second or third year, and almost all of them have at least one scarecrow who enjoys flapping their arms and making scary sounds in attempt to drive away others.
Par for the course. Though it is nice to have them self-identify so you know who to take seriously. _____________________
