Hope this is OK for the general forum.
I just wanted to say a big "Thank You!" to Nigel Linden and all the extra work he put into the Train Station Contest.
I've toured the builds, and the ones up so far are all absolutely amazing.
I invite everyone else to fly up to Tuliptree or Obscure or any of the others this Friday and take a ride on the SL Rail express (courtesy of Nigel!).
The only other comment I really have is that..
..I hope we do a lot more of these in the near future!

We have quate a number of astonishinly tallented users of SL. IMHO, any building job should be brought to the SL population in much the same way as the station contest was. No more hiring outsiders. Congratulations to all!

thanks nigel! this was a great linden sponsored competition! it's really nice as a player to be given the oppurtunity to make a "permanent" mark to the grid. and boy did it create a lot of excitement for the 60 odd people who competed and friends and even strangers! looking forward for the next such competition!

From: Jillian Callahan No more hiring outsiders. Who are these outsiders you speak of? (AFAIK) The only time anything in SL was built by a contracted professional was... waaay back, before I was born, when somebody hired weapon / weapon2 linden to make the Atlas Casino. Everything else was built by residents and lindens (and most lindens were mere residents at one point or another).

I think Jillian is probably referring to the Welcome Area, whose builder, I am told, was an outsider contracted specifically for the purpose.

I want to check out all these stations inworld in glorious 3D. I think I saw just one of them so far. From the sound of it, it seems like it went over really smoothly, and it's nice it was pooled (and pulled) from the Resident community too. How about designing train cars too?
