During the Tuesday nite power failure induced server crash a while back, servers were rolled back to a previous save point. I hadnt done any major building or anything, so that wasnt a problem. My issue was with a few things I had purchased and placed in the moments preceding the crash. Once the game came back on line, POOF, GONE. To the tune of about 2.5k in merchandise. I reported it to SL, and the response was..
" TOUGH COOKIES DUDE, WE AINT RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING YOUR STUFF BACK, YOUR JUST OUTTA LUCK." or something like that. I think if things got rolled back my cash should have rolled back as well. Any more horror storys?

Your money is not tied directly in with the simulators. It's on a separate server. Being able to trace back what you bought, when you bought it, and where it went properly would take quite a bit of time.

Sadly, the ToS states that LLabs isn't responsible for any loss of virtual stuff in-world.
Such things are necessary in a civil-lawsuit happy world.

Merchants MIGHT honour that though Winter.

I have known a few merchants who went the extra mile in customer service by replacing items that have been broken by updates, or replacing items that vanished inexplicably on my land (this has happened a total of 3 times so far). These merchants have earned my respect and consumer loyalty. Merchants who have failed to provide customer service have earned my reticence to shop there.

In particular I am thinking of a furniture item that was broken by 1.6. I sent several pieces of communication to the manufacturer (one of the most popular in SL) and received the reply that the items in the store weren't broken. At this point, we sent the actual item (which was sending error messages to all who tried to sit on it) back to the manufacturer. A few days later, we asked about any update in how the fix of the item was coming along: no response. At this point, I have pretty much had it with that manufacturer and will not shop there again, which is maybe not so good for that manufacturer. I have traffic of over 5000 and am always telling people where we buy our items, sending many many customers to specific locations. Good customer service should be the rule rather than the exception. As RL businesses know, it is more expensive to recruit new customers than to keep loyal customers happy.

If I were you, Winter, I'd approach the merchants who have manufactured your items and tell them your dilemma. If they are smart, they will consider what a great opportunity they have to build good will with someone who spends a lot (and, having seen your pad, I can attest to the fact that you're a big spender. *grins*)
