Well, I'm new. There, I spat it out. My friend (hereby refered to by his virtual name, Hobonicus Engel) had been pressuring me to join this thing for God knows how long, but being a ridiculously cheap bastard, I refrained until the free account giveaways. Thankfully, having a friend in SL at least afforded me the ability to learn the interesting wonks and tricks of this weird "game" (I use that term loosely now), allowing me to bypass the "stupid newbie" stage. Since I have no scripting ability whatsoever, I am now HoboTech Industries' official Venture Capitalist-slash-product design consultant. Right now, I'm working on my own submarine for HTI's "Project Nautilas", which is Hob's vision of a line of neato submersible craft.
So, enough of the unnecessary product endorsement, feel free to make fun of my pitiful attempts to make my avatar look like myself.

@Champie: What did I miss? Well, according to Hob, some sort of system downtime and a "shitstorm of drama about IP numbers," whatever that means. Anyhow, again, thanks for the welcomes! I've actually been able to kit myself out with some more respectable threads since my orientation island stint, but I haven't had time to get some recent screenshots. I bought a zootsuit from the Seburo Heavy Industries store. The guns (especially the flamethrower) looked nice, but they were way out of my newbie-wallet league. EDIT: @Moopf: Actually, no, I didn't know that there was an actual region here named Nova Albion! Wow, that makes me feel all famous and stuff. Actually, I chose my name from Sir Francis Drake's landing spot of legend. |
