*Steps up to podium*

Hello. I am Patrick Hedges. No... really.... Im Patrick Hedges... I can show you my birth cirtificate if you like, for my SL name is, in fact, my RL name as well. When I saw my last name in the list, I just couldnt help myself.
Some might ask "what are you smoking?". while others might ask "doesnt that defeat the whole purpose of going on SL?" Well, no. I dont see it that way. For the past 2 or 3 years it seems as though my online persona hs become intertwined with my offline persona.

Enough rambling. I wont be on till tomorrow. Why? Because my comp only has 128 megs of RAM, and I live out in the boonies, so I cant get Broadband. :( .... Im going to have to sneak it onto one of the comps at school to give it a test drive. Ive got 5 hours to go on it..... So I will see you later on the forums, and I will see you in SL tomorrow. Anyone wanna meet up with me?

Kudos,
Patrick

Well, in case you want to exparement, try using your own machine, set everything in "User options" as low as you can (currently set to 56k modem, lowest ram, lowest visibility, lowest resolution, etc.....) and you may be able to come in, and even get around. Let me know if you decide to try it, I'd like to know if it works. I only have a windowz 98 on a modem, and SL won't work on that OS, so I can't try it out until I talk Wolfie into letting me upgrade, and he's still griping about my last video card upgrade, says his machine crashes all the time now, but you and I know it's really just that he's still on 98, and the rest of us are all on XP and he thinks 98 should be as stable as XP while running more and more complicated games..... sheeesh!

love Ingie

Edit:
be careful of you log-in information though!!!! and you may end up with a firewall problem there at school???? I know others have been on with a 56k modem, can you get dsl? or perhaps one of those double up modems (uses 2 telephone lines?) I can't log on at work, got a firewall can't get through!

Love Ingie (again :p )

For reference, most colleges (including mine) do not have the kind of firewall that stops programs from Second Life from being played. :) So I hope to see you soon Patrick--new, enthusiastic people are awesome to have around!!!

Okay, Ananda, I threatened to do it during sci-fi trivia, but now I'm really gonna organize a Douglas Adams trivia/costume event. And it's your fault. :)

Will start a thread under "Events" in the next day or so, to gauge interest.

Oh, and welcome, Patrick. I'm sure we've all tried Googling you by now; presumably you are not the sheriff of San Luis Obispo. Have fun in SL!
