darksyde's been compared to sagan's writings, which he humbly denounces... s'true, he's not sagan; he's different. but comparable.  for example, his recent essay 'shattered skies, dark future' (found at the uti/brentramussen link) created nearly a 'computer graphic' model in my head of icewater/ocean/storm interactions... fascinating (though scary) reading. he creates a very clear, concise way of understanding these complex interactions.(and... "the day after tomorrow" scenario?? according to his essay, maybe not -too- far off the mark... really, read it and find out...) _____________________

The news this morning (08:00 GMT) was that Rita is now cat 4 and predicted to be stronger than Katrina...

The news this morning (08:00 GMT) was that Rita is now cat 4 and predicted to be stronger than Katrina... My thoughts are with all that live in her path, please run... Actually I believe it was updated to a Category 5 yesterday. With 175mph winds, and measured on central pressure it is the 3rd most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Basin (according to CNN). I'd like to reiterate the 'Run Away' sentiment of an earlier post.  _____________________
