Dear Linden Lab, Linden Lab can disagree with me and levy further disciplinary actions against me, however I will never concede that speaking up against this type of behavior is intolerant. From: someone Gov. Rick Perry spoke at two private events this week where a Texas minister wondered if God sent Hurricane Katrina to purify the nation of sins, including homosexuality.
The GOP leader didn't object at the gatherings in San Antonio and Houston on Thursday. http://www.statesman.com/metrostate/content/metro/stories/09/11perryside.htmlAfter speaking with God this morning, I can tell you in no uncertain terms that he is at extreme odds with the Christian group making these statements. He also scorns the Governor of Texas for not denoucing these speculations on the intentions of the all mighty. God sends hurricanes for one very specific reason. He won't tell me (or anyone else for that matter) what the reason is, but he assures me it has nothing to do with hot and steamy homosexual love. God feels the actions of those in attendance of this event are shameless bigots distorting his will for their own personal gain. He has instructed me to repudiate these claims whenever possible. I take my responsibility as the Messenger of God very seriously. I did not choose this job. I was chosen. So let's recap. God does not endorse the statements by this "Christian" group that God sent the hurricaine to purify the nation of homosexuality. God himself is extremely fond of witty floral arrangements. Furthermore, God wants this message spread so that every ear shall hear him. Yours in Christ, Neehai Zapata

Yeah!!! That Rabbi in Israel said it was punishment for America for Bush's support of the pullout of Gaza! So there!!!
Neehai, I think we're well aware there's idiots speaking for religious groups out there. I just wonder why they're actually in the news. I thought this kind of thing went out of style just after the "Dark Ages".

It comes as no surprise to me that Perry would remain mum on these outrageous comments. After all, Perry signed the joint resolution calling for a constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. From: someone June 5 Flanked by nationally known Christian evangelists at a church in Fort Worth, Governor Rick Perry ceremonially signs House Joint Resolution 6 (HJR 6) that calls for a Constitutional Amendment prohibiting civil marriages, civil unions and domestic partnerships between samesex couples to go to the voters in November. Later, in a reference to gay and lesbian Texans he said, “Texans made a decision about marriage and if there’s a state that has more lenient views than Texas, then maybe that’s a better place for them to live.” He must have forgotten that Texans have not yet voted against this Nonsense.

All the homosexuals I know have "straightened out" out of altruistic desire to save their fellow humans from God's displeasure at the sodomy and gomorrahy present in this nation. Said one, "I feel so guilty that I was responsible for all the deaths in the gulf that I don't think I shall ever love again". According to a Newsweek magazine poll conducted in 1995 (which I cannot confirm from my desk but have little trouble believing) the follwing propotion of Americans believed that these things were "caused by the devil": - crime 36%
- pornography 34%
- feminism 12%
- famine in Africa 16%
- homosexual rights movement 21%
A related and more substantiable source says that 44% of American belive same-sex couples should have no legal recognition and "about a third would like to see greater attention given to religious leaders by officials". One Nation Under the Influence of a Misinterpretation of an Antiquated Book of Dubious Authorship would look really cool on the currency, don'tcha think?

I thought this kind of thing went out of style just after the "Dark Ages". Aware but willing to exploit for personal and political gain. The Governor of Texas has no business standing by and letting that sort of thing ride. Furthermore, every American and every "Christian" that doesn't stand up vocally against this sort of thing is endorsing it with their silence. Wait until they come for you.

Have a look at the press list at the bottom for a good laugh. I know the story was on local broadcast television when it happened a couple years ago.

I can't believe he said that. Why are these people in power? I just want to staple things on their forehead and toss them off something very tall.

It's asinine for conservative political leaders like Perry to be constantly caught en politico flagrante delicto with fringe Christian elements who make these immoral, inhumane claims. They, and the leaders who pander to them, are responsible for much grief and suffering - and when another person says "My God doesn't love what they're doing," I can understand that point of view.

Not so sure about this bit, Neehai. How much of Him are you talking to, do you reckon ? The more willing He is to express such preferences, the less of Him you have in sight. Or am I perhaps taking you too seriously Hmmm......Did I really say "perhaps" ?

From: someone Not so sure about this bit, Neehai. How much of Him are you talking to, do you reckon ? The more willing He is to express such preferences, the less of Him you have in sight. Or am I perhaps taking you too seriously I'm not sure what you mean. I am not at liberty to explain the eccentricities of God, I am merely the messenger. If he tells me that he likes witty floral arrangements, then I accept that he does and relay that message to the masses. God and I talk about so many things. He does most of the talking. I don't mean to be ungrateful or to give the impression that I dislike my job. It is just that sometimes having a one-way conversation with someone that the universe actually does revolve around can be a little trying. He has no problems working in a few prefrences here and there. There is no need to take me seriously, but you should take my messages seriously.

I speak for my dog. And he speaks to me. But sometimes when I see his image in a mirror, I get confused.

Why is it when tragedies happen to people whom religious conservatives consider sinful, it's a work of God, but when something tragic happens to them, it's a work of the devil?
Do I even need to ask? *rolls eyes*

I know the story was on local broadcast television when it happened a couple years ago. You know - If it were me that was preaching to a bunch of people... And I asked for a sign from god... And a bold to lightening hit the church and knocked out the SOUND system... I'd sort of take that as a sign to kind of STFU. but... That's just me. What can I say. I hope god sends you a better sign than he is sending them Neehai 'cause what god's telling you makes a lot more sense to me than what they say gods telling them.

Just read this. Nothing remarkable at all. It doesn't even have the dignity of being a coincidence. Now if the preacher had been blind and deaf, unable to sense the building storm - that WOULD have been a coincidence. But even then not so astonishing, in view of the number of preachers preaching about penance in the US every day, and the number of lightning strikes every day. Every now and again the two must coincide. Particularly with all those spires and towers. Mind you - there aren't that many deaf blind preachers I guess.
