All too often we hear about players who generate a substancial RL earning by converting Lindens to RL cash through third party websites. I have often wondered how many of those players actually claim that converted game currency on their tax returns...

There have been a couple of extended discussions on this subject, where several top earners in SL have stated that they pay their taxes. For additional background on this topic, a reader might want to check out this thread... /120/68/39101/1.html...which I believe was the most detailed one (I'm tired and ready for bed, so my research skills might be off right now -- other threads may be found in a forum search using the keyword "taxes"  .

I never made enough money in SL to get past the threshold for taxes, but if I did I'd mention it as money made abroad (which it technically is), not subject to taxation here.

Thanks for everyone that voted so far! Here is the first set of results: Yes 12 40.00% No 4 13.33% No comment 3 10.00% Does not apply 11 36.67% Voters: 30 Very interesting results so far I will post more results again in a few days...
