An individual made a personal attack on me in these forums yesterday. I'm just fine with that, I've got a thick enough skin, but wanted to reply in a civil manner with some facts this individual chose to omit, or completely distorted. From: someone The first one was written in early, early, beta. I think there was 5 sims. That is the one FlipperPA is referring to. I had no idea whatsoever that one was still even around, as I made every attempt to remove them, largely based on the revealed info from Cori (which is who I listen to, not all you people that think you know better) that color cycling was a big sim killer.
It is also fairly obvious that said individual did not even read my original post in a separate thread concerning avatar keys, spam, and an object he had created which caused some lag and chat spam by having a listener on an open channel. For the record, both of his versions he refers to in his attack thread have this lag creating, spam creating open channel listener, although he is correct in saying his second version created less lag than his first. My complaint was, in fact, about the SECOND ONE, not the first, and about a listener on an open channel, which creates chat spam and more lag than is necessary... which he failed to read as he addresses a completely different lag issue in his attack. The individual also claimed I slandered him. I did not; everything I spoke of was factual, and I have the script and my original post to prove it. To the paranoid attacker: before accusing an individual of slander, my friend, YOU really should read the post as I made it and check YOUR facts. Accusing an individual of slander incorrectly could be considered... well... SLANDER. It was also assumed in this "holier than thou" diatribe that FlipperPA Peregrine was the first account I ever created in Second Life. This is also incorrect. I was a trial user earlier in 2003 for a week, and never got an account... until reading the Slashdot article in November, 2003 which reminded me to come back and check it out. It was at this point I created the FlipperPA Peregrine account, and decided to stay as SL had improved so much by that time. Just my two cents. I apologize to anyone who was confused by these posts, and hope this puts the issue to rest for good. Regards, -Flip

Did you also get a private message challenging you to meet him in real life?

From: someone Well, at the same time I think you deserve a good chomp for that unnerving forum avatar. Yes, I've long thought that the avatar is unsettling, and definitely not hot. Did anyone ever tell you that making your forum avatar appear to be a pair of men's underpants with then a smaller version of your picture on them appearing to be the cock, then that *thing* jumping out at you and turning out to not be a cock (so the mods can't remove it) but just... your picture -- well, it's um *not hot*? Just a thought. And I'll be watching this thread with beady eyes to see if the mods declare it as "inappropriate" because it's a response to slander. I know what it's like to attempt to rectify slander here, and be admonished that it is "not appropriate" or "off topic" or whatever. Indeed, it leads to "near riots". So let's see how far Flipper gets with this. I think it is his right to attempt to set the record straight when he is slandered. I think that's an import facet of free speech. Perhaps there could be a section of the forum called Rants and Rumours just to file those bits away to keep them from hurting the eye of the delicate.
