What the hell is going on?

I reported someone MULTIPLE times for throwing me around a sandbox sim, bugging my character out, and making me relog. He was using a script that automatically bounced me 2 sims away EVERY TIME I entered. I reported it, staff came, staff did nothing. They said it was handled and that was that, but I'm still being thrown around. This is insane.

Do friends of staff members get off easy when they pull stunts like this? I'm sure if I was auto-bouncing people around I'd be banned instantly.

Sit on a box, AR the hell out of the person... oh, and FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO WORK.
I did, and I have no troubles.... except for when someone forgets to pull the 50 scripts of vehicles not meant to be driven, but that's another issue.

The sandboxes are hostile. If you're not working on scripts, go to Newcomb.

I'm now being harassed by the live help member who I was trying to get help from, just for posting this rant. Jesus Christ.

I'm trying to keep my mood calm, but he's talking down to me and really pissing me off now. Like I'm supposed to be happy about being tossed around a zone while he takes his time making the guy stop. Not only that, but he just defended him to me in an IM saying he had to be fair even though he WATCHED and WITNESSED this guy tossing me around the sim.

I hope the real staff aren't this rude. Of course I'm going to be upset about being tossed around a zone 50 or more times(not exaggerating).

I'm sure this new post will get even more messages from this live "helper"...

Have you tried calling a Linden? It sounds like this guy isn't really in a position to DO anything about a griefer, especially if it's only someone from Live Help. You need a Linden to get rid of this jerk in the sandbox.

Also, make sure you're sitting on a prim, as Burke suggested.

I thought he was a Linden, I pulled his name off the list of Lindens online. All I know is he took his sweet time getting the guy to stop. Then he basically shrugged it off like it was nothing.

He was basically telling me to get over it like it didn't happen for 30 minutes or more, all while was witnessing it mind you. I'm supposed to be amazed and highly greatful that after he finally got around to making the guy stop he sent in a report to be reviewed.

He also told me that if I expected this guy with an auto-bouncing grief script to be banned, that I should be banned too because the guy CLAIMS that I shot him when I didn't. Why would you believe anything someone with an automatic griefing script has to say in their defense? That alone should be proof enough that the guy was planning to harass someone and he found his ridiculous excuse to use it.

He also had that stupid jedi script which does the same thing, throwing me around all over the place. He threw some other people as well. I think using a script to ban other players from a sim warrents a ban from the game.

So yeah, I'm pissed off at the way you handle it and conducted yourself. You know who you are.

You will know for certain if it is a Linden or not if their last name says "Linden". Only those with the last name of "Linden" are true Lindens. Just for future reference in case you had not known that yet.

Gambit, I don't know who you talked to, but here's how the system works. Every time someone hits you with a script, it is recorded in your abuse log. When you file an abuse report, LL can read the log and see what actually happened. If this person reports you for having shot him, but you didn't actually do it, the absense of the shot in his log is all the proof you need, so don't worry about that.

It really sounds like whomever it was that you asked for help from was not a Linden. Was it perhaps a Live Helper? You mentioned you talked to a Live Helper about this thread. Is that the same person? If it is, then you should know that Live Helpers are absolutely not Linden Lab employees. They are simply residents who have volunteered to be of service in a knowledge capacity. They should never be called for help against griefing. That's not their job, and they have no power to do anything about it. Only those with the last name of Linden are in a position to help, and of those, not all of them are in the abuse department. The job of any Linden who's inworld at the time of an alleged abuse is simply to diffuse the situation, and to instruct those involved to file abuse reports. Once the reports are filed, the abuse team at LL will investigate and determine the proper course of action.

I know it's easy to feel like you should have instant satisfaction in a situation like this, but if you take a step back and think about it, allowing time for proper investigation is the only fair way to do things. To give you an idea, about a dozen of us reported someone last week for an incident of blatant abuse against certain individuals, and a couple of groups. The evidence against the abuser was overwhelming. At first glance, it would be easy to assume that the person was guilty (because he was), and then just ban him on the spot. However, LL has to be able to take a the necessary time to acurtately determine the difference between a real incident, and a witch hunt. Who's to say we hadn't all ganged up on an innocent person for our own reasons? We know we didn't do that, but LL didn't. They needed to follow the proper procedures. It wasn't until today that I finally got the E-mail saying they had resolved the situation.

So, the answer is be patient, be persistent, and let LL (the real LL) do their jobs. Abuse report the push guy. Abuse report the live helper who demeaned you for posting here. Ask any witnesses to do the same.

And by the way, if you don't want to be pushed, all you need to do is sit on something. I know that's not very satisfying, but it works. If you need to move around, just move whatever it is you're sitting on. You might also want to look into buying a shield. Eckhart Dillon makes a great one. It stops all pushing, and it renders you invulnerable to any and all attacks if you're in a damage-enabled area.

Oh, and speaking of damage-enabled areas, which sandbox were you in? They're not all safe zones. There are some where attacking other players is allowed. If you were in one of those, then perhaps that's the reason nothing was done about the attack on you. Make sure you work in safe zones if you want to be safe. There are signs in the sandboxes that say what is and is not allowed in each one.

Good luck, and don't let one screwball get you down. SL is full of great people who for the most part would be happy to help you instead of attack you like that one.

The short answer is yes.

However, LL takes these issues seriously, but are bound by processes.

Abuse reports are collected and evaluated on a one to one basis, the result will NEVER be reported to the victim because of privacy issues. Should this happen again, remember this .... Being victimized by someone is bannable behavior, collect the evidence you need (screenshots, logs etc) Include these with your abuse report.

For a few minutes of grief, you can help your community by having a person warned or banned.
