Referrals also help your weekly stipend in a BIG way -- they are a lot more effective than positive ratings as the formula shows:

I have come to find out the only ratings given out anymore are negative ratings. Is there any other way? Yah, I try to give out positive ratings when I see people stop in my store, ect, but since the rating cost went up I think I've had a total of 3 people actually rate me back. :/ |

When will everyone realize they are supposed to BUY money?
It's an integral part of SL. People pay for newspapers, movies, cable television, music, people pay for every form of content, you can't expect SL content to be handed to you on a silver platter. Heck, get rid of the stupid linden dollar and make it all in USD. www.gamingopenmarket.com www.ige.com www.anshechung.com www.hankramos.com Any others? _____________________

Heck, get rid of the stupid linden dollar and make it all in USD. I hope you'll be paying for my continued existence in SL if that happens, Eggy. ![]() _____________________

i'm sorry to hear that's what's happening to you.the only thing that affects the stipend (after getting a premium account) is having positive ratings. you can get some money from getting traffic, but that's a daily things, not a stipend thing. I have not received neg ratings either.. but the only time I see any topic/thread about ratings it is always about negrats being giving. The only times I hear players talk about ratings in the game is when negrats are being handed out. I look at players that started aroundthe sametime as I have and they all have about the same ratings as I do. It is not rocket science, it is simple fact of SL life that ratings are used fairly aboundantly to get only negrats to players. |

Yup Jesse, started when you did and agree with you on that; ratings don't do us much good.

Not only GETTING rated, but rating others ups UR stipend. Each week I try to find 1 or 2 people to rate....for good cause mind U, not just for the hell of it, and if I get rated back then that's better for both of us. That will usually bump my weekly L$500 stipend up to $L975...I've never gone above that
Sometimes instead of a tip I'll rate the host of an event too. |

Yeah, I remember when I joined up, the basic stipend wasn't nearly enough cash to satisfy my consumer curiositities. I decided to go premium so as to up my stipend and get a small chunk of land upon which to experiment with building and keep some of the stuff I was going to buy with my newly-gotten cash.
That worked for the most part, too. Occasionally I used GOM to buy larger blocks of cash to finance land purchases or to pay for the services of others when I needed help on projects. There are plenty of indirect means of scrounging pennies in SL, but, meh, may as well just pay for it (via development of product or exchange of RL cash). _____________________

Oh wow, rating people will up your bonus? I have rated some people, but hey, I didn't know it would do me good, too!
I think I will start rating more. The cost of it has kept me from rating deserving people. Meanwhile, I continue with my experiment (which also keeps me in my husband's good books) of not turning my basic account into premium, and certainly never actually buying money from GOM. So far, so good. If and when I move up to premium, I plan to post at length about what can be accomplished on a basic membership. I wanna brag about it anyway. This may happen sooner, rather than later. I have canceled the second TSO account I had, which I got for the new DC city, so I can even sort of justify it to my husband. Gonna let him enjoy knowing I canceled that other TSO account for a while first, though. coco P.S. Are you SURE rating other people will up your bonus? And, not that I would ever do this, but does negatively rating other people lower your bonus? |

I believe that it is a combination of both your giving ratings and you recieving ratings. My experiment so far is that two per week suffices to bump my bonus up to 475, bring in 975 total on stipend day.
That would be me giving out two ratings per week and recieving two per week. So, being nice does pay off. _____________________

I believe the max is 975 for premium. Not sure what it might be for basic.

Base Basic Account stipend is L$50/week, base Premium Account stipend is L$500/week, with a high enough total score it's a sureshot of L$375/week, and with enough weekly change that's another L$375/week.
So, maximum weekly stipends are as follows: Basic Account: L$50 + L$375 + L$375 = L$800 Premium Account: L$500 + L$375 + L$375 = L$1250 Referrals will not only enhance your stipend, but bring you L$1000 for each Basic Account you refer and L$2000 for each Premium Account that signs up. The granularity isn't as great as it used to be since ratings cost 25x more than they used to (for anyone who doesn't remember, they used to cost L$1 each to give out some months ago and for a good span of time before that), and it doesn't seem like from the formula link I gave earlier that giving ratings will up you any; just receiving, but if anyone has more data it'd be most welcome! ![]() _____________________

Wow! I didn't realise that ratings influenced the stipend. I've been rating positively nice people I meet just because they are nice people. Nice to know that doing that brings its own rewards. One can never have enough $L.

I got a weekly rating bonus of $20, which I assume is for the positive rating given. - Jon |
