G'day

I'm a noob looking for a home.

Grabbed a nice hillside spot at Mocha... Gets a bit noisy from Olive but still nice view at the edge of the sim.

Unfortunately someone came and built a mountain on my hill and I lost heaps of view...

I'm all nature lovers and realise the land used was available for anyone but ........

Now I want something similar to what i had... A quiet lookout with water views. Any suggestions ?

Also I have noticed some weird practises and was wondering if this is the norm throughout SL...

1... Buy land ...terraform...release... hold small parcel.

2... build a house then buy very small square of land in public land apparently to thwart future neighbours from buing blocks next to you.

I have found some nice expanses of really attractive land only to see I cant get to own a useful parcel because of unconnected droplets in the way...

All i want is a place to call my own....

any ideas ??

If people are buying tiny bits of land and not using, which you seem to describe, you might want to tell a Linden. People are explicity told not to buy tiny disconnected bits of land in order to hamper other land buyers.

Yes, its very much against the Community Standards. If you see that, report it.

Aqua Marina, Aqua (204, 50)
I just opened up an apartments building in Aqua. The complex is in mediterrainian style and situated on the beach of Aqua's west side.
Still two apartmetns with ocean view available. You might want to check them out :)

I was noticing yesterday that some really lovely spots in Minna were open. It is a well situated sim with nice views and the usage is pretty low, now.

If you see a nice spot, send an IM to the owner of the land and make them an offer. Even though buying small parcels of land is agaist the TOS, it's being done to prevent people from build a small chunk of land and putting up a billboard or huge purple houses. Greenspace preservation ;-)

Tried talking to your new neighbours? Some might be interested in coming up with a good looking mountainside solution :)

Well Thanks for the suggestions

I grabbed another hillside shoulder in Gray.

Very similar and a nice view.

Dont get me wrong ... I think the mountain is cool and am all for freedom to do whatever on your land.

I just wanted some space around me.

But I am dead against the people that buy small chunks of land to stop billboards or preserve green space... I think that is a bit much. If you want it kept safe buy it. Others have the right to build next to you purple, peuce, orange , mountains ...whatever.

I saw many nice spots that I just couldnt grab because of this practise but I am not about to dob in the offenders...I just moved on ...

Heaps of friendly people have helpmed find a spot ...and thanks for the efforts guys... drop in and see me anytime

Dag:

Contact me in-game. Perhaps I have some land I could release to you for your home.

Thanks!

meh... that's one way to look at it. for some people, myself included, a pretty sim is a big part of fun. if the game was full of purple buildings, I wouldn't be excited about it, and I wouldn't tell my friends about it.

I invite you to come visit our quite corner of Brown. It is at the top of the world (atm) to the NW. We have a themed sim there so there is NO terra changing. We have a height limit, so no ones home blocks the others. We have ocean view for the moment. (untilll they open the new land to the north) but still water to the south and possible left. To our east is the sim green a quite wooded get away, where cabins and tents are the only allowed structors. If you would like a tour of what you can do to a Prefab house , which is the only other restriction. Feel free to tour our home, Or go to the Second Life NEws and read New world notes by Hamlet. In the archives about 2 maybe 3 weeks now for a mondays date is an article about our prefab. We could use some neighbors.......
