A friend of mine joined Second Life yesterday. He learned of SL from me, but when he registered, he didn't know what my SL name was to put as his referral. He went ahead and completed his registration anyway. He wants to know, is it too late for him to give me credit for referring him?

I imagine not to stop referral farming in the welcome area - I may be wrong though.

You might be able to email support@secondlife.com and tell them what happened, worth a shot

I imagine not to stop referral farming in the welcome area - I may be wrong though. If you're implying what I think you are, yes, you would be wrong. This is someone I know in Actual Real Life. I have never gotten a referral thing before, and it's been about seven months since I registered for the game myself, so it didn't dawn on me to tell him my name so that he could fill it in on his registration. I wasn't even thinking about referral bonuses or whatever it is you get when I told him about Second Life, I was just happily sharing something I think is special with a friend. He was the one who mentioned it to me and asked me if it was too late. And it sucks that I had to explain all that because of a cynic who felt the need to make a snide, insulting comment. |

It wasn't meant as a snide insulting comment - I believed you. I imagine that they don't allow it retrospectively because of the potential of referral farming of newbies in the welcome area.
If you were actually trying this I doubt you'd talk about it in the forums. I didn't mean it as an attack on you - please don't take it as one. _____________________

Ack, I misunderstood you, got overheated, and made myself look like an ass. I'm sorry.

Don't worry about it. I probably didn't make myself suitably clear.
