I am curious to know why 'Linden' for our creators? I know this used to be LindenWorld, but I'd like to know a bit of history behind the name if there is one.

Linden Lab's original offices were located at 333 Linden Street, in San Fransisco. They then moved their offices to Second Street.
![]() Also, many of the simulator names are named after side streets in San Fransisco. Check a map ![]() |

I heard it was a tribute to exiled Princess Lin who lived in a Den in the woods near LA with her 6 kids.

Hmm, somehow Jame's explanation seems a bit easier to swallow

Some interesting 333 Linden History:
Our first office was literally a garage - 333 Linden used to be an automobile body shop. It had a working conveyor belt from the ground up to the second floor which we used to move computers (and rumors of us riding it up and down are of course totally false). We also never contemplated hitting golf balls off of our roof towards City Hall. Really, never. Unfortunately the building had no heat or air conditioning which meant much of the early code was written by developers wearing gloves to avoid numbness of the extremities. It did have an open floor plan – no offices just a big space – which is how we continue to work today. No walls – that’s how we get stuff done, communicate with each other quickly, etc. Somehow it didn’t seem right to try and do something as cool as Second Life from within cubicles. ![]() _____________________

Hey Hunter, how about you Lindens build an in-game model of your early office one of these days. Sounds like it must have been pretty cool!

A few belts... and more Lindens?

An in-game conveyor belt? Hmmm there's an interesting thought. Anyone do a conveyor or an escalator yet?
Anyway, where are all of the "famous" Lindens, like Hal Linden and Trevor Linden? Ashby Linden? maybe Linden Avery? Michael Linden? no, wait... urge to pun, rising... =SV _____________________

It wouldnt be too hard. Just make a script that makes a prim follow a certain movement repeatedly and put it in every prim on the conveyor belt.
