I've seen several posts that contain negative comments about certain PG rated games being transferred over to the teen-grid.

I for one am in favor of the Linden's doing this. Why? Creates a bigger user base if it isn't just a big empty grid. It's not like they brought over ElvenGlen or copied the entire Teazer Isle. They brought over a Tringo game. A game that everyone on the main grid loves, so why not share that with the teen grid?

Why am I not in favor of non-Linden SL grid users bringing stuff over to the teen grid?

Monopoly for one. The person that does this will have a HUGE impact on that grid forever. Especially if they start right now.

I seem to think that some users of the main grid don't think that the Teen Grid users can cut it by themselves without our help. I believe these people are wrong, and I hope the teen grid users prove that.

If the Linden's want to bring over a tringo game, a slingo game, or even a Who Wants To Be A Lindenaire game then by all means. Second Life is their game, they created it. It is their perogative. I think the negative comments are jealous in nature. Since users of the main grid are not able to bring things over to the teen grid.

I hope main grid users NEVER get to bring things over to the teen grid. Let them build their own world as we were able to build ours for 2 years. Let's see what they come up with.

Instead of using artificial growth hormones on the flower, let it grow naturally. See what happens.

Satai, I agree with your ideology.

However, I think the reality of the teen grid is that it is far too easy to sneak in items (txt file posted on website, prim copier scripts), and there should simply be a legit way for items to make it over without favoritism.

Let's see what they come up with.

Since we cant go there, we will never know. I guess parents and friends of teens that get sent pics will get to see. But the majority of us will never know.

I dont see the harm in some of the content from our world going over there, simply to inspire ideas. They dont have to embrace designs, they will adapt for their needs.

There is already "corruption"/influence in a sense from the main grid to the teen grid.

1. There are underage players banned from the MG who literally brought skills and knowledge to the TG - a massive advantage for those residents over the teens who have no such skills or knowledge.

2. There are items, scripts and ideas which HAVE been imported into the TG already - by those same teen residents. These items, scripts and ideas include, but are not limited to: GOM/IGE influences with the SL eceonmy, land rental programs for Basic account holders, certain scripts freely available here in the forums via the Library and the wiki (though they do not all have access to such --- seems that a few live a double life, there and on the MG), "Bling" related ideas, and numerous others. Cliques and business organizations have already begun to somewhat carve up the grid to an extent in various ways. For instance, a group of transplants from the MG "brought" furries to the TG en masse as a busines despite there having been a custom av maker there for two months already. Huge influence in av design.

3. At least one "Stormy Roentgen/Starax Statosky" seems to be emerging though more as one who "sees curves" rather than mere box prims. This teen is apparently an art student - not unlike the influence of certain people here on the MG.

4. The Lindens HAVE brought over Tringo to the TG themselves - but the game is not freely for sale -- think of it like the games in the GAME PAVILION at the Welcome Area. Viewable, playable - not purchasable --- but nothing to stop the teens from coding one themselves. Primtionary was also "broguht in" by a Linden Liason - something that is an obvious community and skill builder as a social activity.

5. Probably the single largest "lack" right now, according to my source (a young relative who is on the TG), is the lack of scripting classes. Not a single scripting class has been taught in the couple weeks my relative has been on the TG. This means that those with contacts on the MG, with experience on the MG, and those who have experience outside SL have a HUGE advantage. At least two advanced flight scripts have made their way onto the grid - one of them with mouselook controls!

6. Finally, as can be expected, guns are a BIG draw. The teen guys WANT guns, guns and more guns. With the scarcity of scripters, the physical models appear only to be limited by the willingness of a builder to ally him/herself with a scripter.... the advantage in profit sharing seeming to go to the scripter regardless of details in the physical model/texturing.

How'd my relative get on the grid - accident. His/her father was on the IRC channel and someone posted the TG signip address. By "accident" this bypassed the waiting time.... some of the residents have apparently waited for months to get on. What is my relative's overall reaction to the TG? - Simple.. do you remember the feeling of "wonder" and awe you had as a kid? This has recently turned into frustration as the grid he/she was introduced to so recently has suddenly grown "smaller" due to a recent influx of new residents and the resulting mish mash of "urban sprawl" inconsistent quality of builds that one now has to deal with.

So.. it seems to me that you cannot hope that the TG will remain "pure" and uninfluenced by the MG --- it's happened already and there's no going back unless they wipe the grid and find someway to prevent anyone with any kind of connection to the MG (other than the Lindens) -- whether by relatives, access to the SL wiki, or whatever. I's gonna happen, it has happened, it will continiue to happen and there's no point in "worrying" about it.

My 2 cents.
