avatar sizes

hey any one notice that most every one in this game is 7 feet tall or taller.

I haven't noticed this myself (since Sept 2003). Most avatars I come across are shorter or even *much* shorter than mine. Pen is 7'4" without prim shoes on.

Geez Pen, I was imagining you as a little shrimpy girl with a whip.

I am only 6'2". I think, or I was a year ago.

As I recall I worked pretty hard to get my elfin avatar to be around 6 feet tall, plus an inch or two I think. My furry AV (my usual av) is around 5'10 or so. Both are shorter than I am IRL (6'3"-6'4"

haha! Nope. Pen has forever been really tall. Even the child AV I made for her (representing Pen at age 8 is really tall). I wouldn't mind owning a whip though , but I have yet to find one (mostly due to not really looking hard enough I'm sure).

I'm 7'5" without shoes unless I'm in my Tinies form and then I'm about 3' tall.

Now that I am starting to meet forum folks in person, I am finding the forum icons that i associate with the names are often quite diferent from the people.
(pretty obvious I guess, but it never occured to me).

How do you suffer through the bad fitting clothes and never being on the right level for a hug though?

I originaly made my avatar as big and buxom (7 feet also), but I got tired of all the clothes making my ass look enormous and my boobs stretching out my tops. People also complained about having to reach up, or look up, at me all the time.

I did not *totally* cop out and become a Barbie clone, but now I am a more average sized girl, (with a huge ass and big boobs)

See, I rebelled at the idea of a Xena: Fashion Blingstress avi. If Liona is 5' 2", that's granting her an inch. I like to think that the truly great things come in small packages.

Now my icon *is* my avatar, so I suppose there's no mystery about my chest. I used that picture 'cause I like my Hello Kitty top...but I suppose other people pay attention to other things...

I found out awhile back that my avatar was a bit over 7 feet tall, using some freebie ruler thing.

I tried bringing my av down to my RL size, 6'4", but that seemed a little too... short.

So I compromised and made myself 6'9".

My av is about 6'6" or so, but that's only because that's how tall I have to make it to maintain the proportions I'd like. I'd prefer a "global scale" slider option, where one could scale their avatar up or down without distorting its proportions, but sadly, we don't have such a feature just yet.

This is actually why my elfin avatar is so tall as well. You can't get "slender" without being tall in SL. Even then, the ribcage on male AVs stays quite large.

according the the measuring cube I'm 6'3" same as irl. but the measuring cube doesn't actually stretch as tall as you are, so If I streatch a cube to my height next to me, it says I'm 6'10" so I dunno.

Im pretty sure the defualt shape for the female Av is about 6 feet tall.

My Avatar is 5'5" which is about 1 inch taller then I am on this side of the screen.

It makes me one of the shortest "Non tiny" avs lol just becuase I suppose.

I have a very neat height meter thing you click on and it tells you how tall you are in feet and inches (including shoes). I dunno where I got, but it was a freebie, I've had it forever.

This thing aught to be made prominantly available on Orientation Island and at the newbie stations in the Welcome Area.

My AV is 5'5" and yes most are taller than me in game, but I think it has changed some, not as many are as tall as they use to be.

I have a height detector which i used to make myself my rl height of 5'5.

Well, for the clothes, I've always made my own. I have a pretty unique style that I make for myself (and do sell also but the style is pretty different, so not seen as often hehe). I do buy the occasional other outfit, for special occasions or if I just really like something someone has made. So clothing has never really been an issue for me.

As for the hugs, well.. I usually crack some joke about where the other person's face ends up.

but how do you know they are accurate i took a box measured my self by hand then i used a outside conversion table to do it..

only reason it looks funny is because we are used to have ben seening tall avatars. this isnt just a second life problem any game where the character customization isnt shown rather than useing percentages its not going to be that accurate. lets say you wanted to mimic you self exactley you cant with out haveing to cancel apperance mode to remeasue every part or you have to set ever thing up at once.

I like being small. I'm 2.1 feet and that brings me up to most AV's waste. I wanted to be a Tiny but I love my clothes and hair and tattoos too much.

I'm thinking of starting a Littles revoulution. Anyone care to join? It's very easy, you won't even have to spend any money. Just slide your AV height, legs and torso all the way over to the left. Don't forget to shorten your arms as well or you'll look a little funny.
