Sorry, but I find a story about a bunch of simpering twits who flaunt their beauty in an attempt to achieve fame to be utterly pathetic. The idolization of beauty over talent or intelligence is the greatest flaw of Western civilization. I certainly won't be watching this evening, and I don't really feel like debating my viewpoint. Thus, I was going to keep quiet. However, your post deserved a response. |

Venezuela, hands down... not that I'm biased or anything
However, Canada, Dominican Republic and Ukraine are very pretty, too  I understand the feeling that it's all plastic and talentless, and I completely agree, but I've always watched it more as a race or sport than a beauty contest hehe_____________________

Well, beauty pageants are nothing new or exciting or, to me, even remotely interesting. That bizarre thread about smelling William Shatner, however... that's not something you see every day. I suppose the fact that it's a Miss Universe contest, drawing contestants from all around the world, would also be strong evidence that it's not just a Western thing. I would like to amend my complaint from Western civlization to the whole of human civilization. |
