I am tired of reading post from one person telling another person their thread does not belong in what ever forum. It happens most in this forum, "New in Second Life"
If I build something, and it is new to second life, shouldnt I be able to post it here? Basically that would just be an invite for everyone to come see a new creation. If there is no product being pushed or services being offered then how is it a classified ad?
Along those same lines, why is a thread such as this one allowed to stay on this forum? It is not about anything new to second life.

So here are the rules to this forum. You can talk about anything in the "New To Second Life" forum except anything that is new to Second Life.

the last time the forums were re vamped a couple of forum categories were eliminated. notice there is no general chat type of forum categorie now. people just gravitated to this one and started using it for general talk. if u post about ur new build, and someone complains about it, just ignore that, or point out what u have already pointed out. i agree with u that this is the place to talk about ur new build. i also think we need a general chat category and until one is provided this one will just have to do.

This forum topic has always appeared to be about what's happening in each individual's "second life." Sometimes, well, often times, people decide to bring in topics from their other life,<gasp>their "first life," because nothing new and exciting seems to be going on for them in the only life they should be talking about here, their "second life." So why not talk about what's new in YOUR second life? Maybe LL really need to consider another forum topic to be New in first life for all these off topic discussions including the ever annoying Happy Birthday messages. It's been mentioned numerous times but yet nothing has been done about it. I wonder if a whole day can pass without any OT/first life discussions posted...hmmmm...

Blame LL.
They royally fucked up the last (two) time(s) they restructured the forums, making them more obscure and even attempting to remove the possibility of any sort of hostility by removing forum categories. Some NEEDED to go (like the "Rants" section... those always just breed hostility), others didn't (like the "Off Topic" and "General" sections).
Thankfully, LL has finally seen the error of it's ways, and has started restructuring the forums. They started Monday. The final changes are supposed to happen today.
