What started out as a spontaneous joke on a friend, the insane idea that followed snowballed into an event that has been dubbed 'The Morris Sitstock', which occurred on the East side of the Morris Sandbox, August Sunday 21 - Monday 22 2005.
In the beginning there were three of us, Stella, Terran, and myself, sitting discussing our projects for the evening, on our little black sit scripted cushions rezzed for comfort. We were soon joined by three others, Mike, Random, and Aleksie (sorry if names are wrong, but it was a busy night)........While I was busily zoomed in retexturing a hairpiece I had made, the others decided to place a cushion on Stella's head, just for a laugh, and sat on it. By the time I looked up from my work, they were all stacked, ava upon cushion upon ava, one on top of the other. With that I joined the stack.
With our tower of cushions and avas drawing a few onlookers, who then became fellow Sitters, we decided to head up to the Welcome Area and see if anyone would like to join in our madness, and set a record for the tallest ava/cushion stack. To my surprise, quite a few people followed us back to the Sandbox and joined the ever growing stack. Stella started a group, called it Sitters, uniting us all under the title 'I can sit!' and invited each new person as they arrived. Friends lists were IMed, and people were tped in to join the madness.
As the sun set over the West, some Sitters forced sunrise to keep track of the numbers and take snapshots (I hope someone sent one to Snapzilla). As I tried to force sunrise, my system crashed, and by the time I got back ingame we had already recruited another round of Sitters. People arriving in the Sandbox were agape at the sight, and were quickly spotted and called over to add to the stack. It was a great moment when Nicole Linden arrived and humoured us by also joining in the Sit. We thank you Nicole
As the evening wore on and numbers climbed, so did the fun. At it's peak, the tower of avas on cushions stood 45 people high. The five of us who started the whole thing were totally blown away by how many people 'sat in' and we thank each and every one of you for participating in this really crazy, but totally fun event. All who did were listed, and will receive a "I SAT IN AT MORRIS SITSTOCK" tshirt in the coming days.
