Blocking "Map" stalkers?

This is indirectly related to the invisibility discussion, but deserves a separate title I think.

If my friends want to join me, I'm always quick with a TP offer. I'm looking for a way to prevent certain other people from tracking me by hitting "Map" on my profile. This is a privacy issue, IMO, where I don't mind my friends having an easy way to find me but *some* people I'd just as soon avoid. As you immerse yourself in a diverse community like SL, this kind of thing can happen. It hasn't gone over the line to harrassment yet (and if it does I'll happily report it) but I'd just as soon avoid that scenario before it happens. It'd be a great aggravation-saver if I had an option to turn off mapping, or to be invisible on the Map.

Otherwise, do you know of a way to prevent this kind of 'map stalking' - or is it a feature suggestion already that just hasn't been implemented?

As I understand it only people on your friends list can use the map fuction on your profile. for anyone else in SL that option is greyed out and not functional.

Thanks, Darkness. I hadn't realized that -- very good to know!

Yeah, Cindy, I didn't even know about the maptracker until over a month in -- so funny, it was placed in an unintuitive place for me I suppose (altho I admittedly can't think of a better location at the mo').

Why do you use a different font? It's very distracting.

Hi Davoren! It's a good question. :)

I'm doing something a little different because I used "Verdana" for the bulk of my past posts, and as I enjoy diversity, I'm switching things up some. It was also brought to my attention that Verdana and Georgia are sort of flipsides of the same coin when it comes to web iconography, so to speak -- sans-serif and serif, I thought it rather yinyangy. Like this article here:

http://www.will-harris.com/verdana-georgia.htm

Also, another reason is because I use Georgia (and sometimes Verdana), on my blog. I'm trying to see what kind of stylistics I can employ, it's something I find appealing. Welcomingly, if you've been to WWW.TORLEY.COM and then contrasted that with my entries on WWW.SLBLOGGER.COM, you'll notice that I am using both.

Actually, wait, Baba said it better than me. Thanks Baba.

Hope this A's your Q! :D

I would just like to commend you for your good taste in useing Georgia.. I've been using it for about 6 years now for most everything ;0

This thread has inspired me to put the effort into using it more in the forums as well ;0

Thank you Torley !!

Yes, that is one of the reasons I started using it.. It seemed very expressive in Georgia ;0 ... As a side note, I have to use Size 3 to get it to display as normal.
