Ok, now that I have at least one person's attention, I need some feedback, If you are so inclined... Say, a friend of a friend, "owns" an entire Sim with a PG rating, surrounded on all four sides by mature Sims, wishes to conduct very lewd and offensive behavior, taboo, nekked and otherwise, in said Sim. Now I know the elephant's in the room will call a technicality and chant "TOS, TOS, its all in the TOS"... =P .... and I agree it's technically a violation of the black and white rules, but such is my dilemma ( um, well, my friend's friend actually... ) A request to have the Sim's rating changed, sent to the Linden's, was returned - Loud Booming Voice: "we do not change ratings of Sims on the grid" , and a reply was sent - squeaky mouse voice: " k, thx for the reply' , effectively ruling out such an extravagant indulgence. But... If the majority of the residents, this case being only one..lol, are in agreement of such malcontent behavior, doesn't that negate the need for a designated rating, which I'd imagine was created to alleviate community standard disputes, such as: "why do I have do see THAT next door to my quaint little cottage", etc. etc. ? Besides, the said "community", the entire Sim being a single "plot" is "technically" surrounded by filth and smut on every side! Hmmm...as a possible alternative can a Sim be requested to be removed from the grid? Wasn't Avalon? (I'm sure THAT's a novel in it's self ) If you survived this long and care to express yoself... please do!

It sounds like your friend's plan to buy a mature sim (maybe even a private island!) at PG land prices is not going as smoothly as he'd like.

I think you can have a private sim's "maturity" rating changed, but you can't get the Lindens to change a sim that is connected to the mainland grid. (It's been done once before, I believe, in Bonifacio, and I don't think the Lindens will do it again. Immaculate residents at one point tried repeatedly to get their sim rating changed, and it never happened.) Avalon is, and, I think, always has been, visible on the grid. It began as "Mature." The problem with conducting "mature" activity in a PG sim is that if someone happens to visit the sim and is expecting PG things to be located there, they might be "shocked and offended" ( ) by finding "Mature" activities. Yes, this is a TOS issue, and I don't think that, in this case, you can ignore your sim's rating just because it is surrounded by "Mature" sims and the sole owner wishes his/her PG sim to be "Mature." You would run the risk of being Abuse Reported. [/$.02]

Avalon was the first Island sim auctioned off. Actually, to this day it's been the ONLY Island sim auctioned off. No one's quite sure what's going to happen to it once Fizik gets bored with it and sells it. It came online separated from the grid. The only time a Sim is moved is if it is negatively impacting surrounding sims. For instance, Rausch and Jessie have been moved around, I believe, and the Sandboxes have been bopped around. Sim Ratings don't change because, eventually, it'd be an administrative nightmare. Sorry to say, but no one owns land forever That being said, given the location of the Sim, i'd have to say that the PG bits of the ToS are probably going to be more lax. Of course, a randomly wandering prude COULD get you for naughty bits. Just a warning. LF

If $$ is not a factor, why sell the PG sim, and buy a mature one somewhere else?

Cause I just fell in love with the Sim from the first time I set foot on it! Don't know why, It just felt special in a wierd kind of way... and it even has it's own bridge! (it's the little things in 'second' life that count ^^ )
It's not that I MUST have a mature sim, you see. It's nice to have the option, but I really have no intention on turing it into Magillihoes Island, mature or not!
Oh well, guess me and the girls could always do outbound services.... heh heh =P

It's not for sale and, we are not 'bored' of it. In fact, we have 2 major projects announced, plus 7/8 more before this year ends. We will be in SL for the duration. If anyone would like information regarding Avalon sim, or the avalon brand. Please feel free to talk with any of us - thanks Avalon sim, is unique within the context of SL. It is though a mainland sim, we don't have the extras you associate with 'island sims'. So it will be treated like any other 'land' in SL.

Can I just say that Fizik has nothing to do with Digeridoo Designs, Grignano, or the people that wander by it. If there's anyone that doesn't need a legal disclaimer, it's me. LF

You could limit the access to the sim, that way you may be able to get away with what you want... If you do it inside so people in the neighbouring sims can't see (even if they are mature).. Not that I'd advise it of course

I dunno, grow up and accept that what you brought doesn't fit your malcontent, as you put it?

From: Moopf Murray I dunno, grow up and accept that what you brought doesn't fit your malcontent, as you put it? There are a lot of decaffeinated brands on the market that are just as tasty as the real thing.

From: Lordfly Digeridoo Of course, a randomly wandering prude COULD get you for naughty bits. Just a warning. Oh yawn. It's actually nothing to do with being prudish, but I guess that's an easy way to make people feel bad for having an issue with seeing it everywhere in world, which is what would happen if you didn't have the PG/M distinction. It's all so black and white, isn't it
