I'm pretty sure that it is, though not 100% certain.

Is impersonating another player against TOS / CS? Apparently not, I saw Pathfinder was reading it, now he is offline. Is it impersonating if one uses a different name? Is it wrong to cut and paste what others have written on the forums? I am going to have to think about this a bit before I decide what I personally think. I mean, I think it's sort of ridiculous, but it may just be skirting the ToS enough, unless LL deems it trolling or a personal attack, which they very well could. It would be ironic if this person gets away with satirizing Prokofy, especially to the extent of skillful ToS skirting. _____________________

I'm pretty sure that it is, though not 100% certain. I think it would depend on the circumstance. Like if both players agreed with it? Was it for comical or satire reasons? Was it intended for malice? |

Impersonating a Linden is against the TOS. There isn't any way for someone to replicate the name of another resident, so we can assume it is at worst, parody.

Interesting. Thanks for clearing that up Robin. I'm sure it was the impersonating a Linden bit that I was remembering.

5.1 Participant Conduct. In addition to abiding at all times by the Community Standards, you agree that you shall not: (i) take any action or upload, post, e-mail or otherwise transmit Content that infringes or violates any third party rights; (ii) impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a Linden employee, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity; I think that covers it? Edit: Oop too late. Took too long to look it up._____________________

I would say it is at BEST parody, Robin - not "at worst".
And even that is taking kindness way too far. coco |

that's stupid. Which part? Impersonating a Linden? Having a rule against it? Or the exception to the rule? _____________________

Which part? Impersonating a Linden? Having a rule against it? Or the exception to the rule? the chain of logic that arrives at "we can assume..." _____________________

the chain of logic that arrives at "we can assume..." I think Coco's analysis was the most accurate. Most people just throw out "at worst" and "at best" like the phrase meant "probably". I think Robin likely just make that mistake. _____________________

If they're a complete asshole and practically beg for it, sure. I thought it was funny as fuck, and I think a lot of the people grumbling about it all being inappropriate now are just being hypocritical as ever.
What, it's ok for you all to make fun of and parody someone in the forums as long as you don't spend 9.95 to make it even funnier? ![]() |
