I have rewatched the video of the debate, which I still had in my Tivo since I never delete anything, and lo and behold, the bulge on Bush's back is clearly there. It is definitely not a photoshop job. Wow, what an interesting turn of events!

Well, the candidates had wireless mics on, because when they walked away from the podiums at the end, you could hear everything they were saying perfectly.

And besides, a *receiver* would be MUCH MUCH smaller than that. It's funny that one of the articles linked to talks about using these earpieces to prompt actors or narrators in movies. I've actually done this for a church video that I made several years ago. The receivers are literally earpieces... nothing more. No wires running to anything. Just an earpiece. The size of the bulge is much more in line with a transmitter for wireless mics. In television, they are almost always placed in the middle of the back or lower back unless the subject is seated.

My belief is that it is most likely the wireless microphone transmitter. Evidence to support this is that you could still hear them perfectly when they stepped away from their podium microphones. It is common practice to use more than one mic type in live television.

I'm a Republican, and I think the President's performance that night was so terrible that there's no way he could have been wired.

And thats fine, i don't think he cheated but he still broke the rules... The rules clearly stated that all notepads and pens would be provided and they the candidates were to bring nothing to the podium themselves.
