IMVU 3D Chat Application

I just happent o find out about this neat looking 3D IM app called IMVU. Supposedly you can create your own custom avatars as well. Similar to Second Life in ways. May be old news to some folks but I thought I'd share to those who have not seen yet. Check it out at:

IMVU was created by mostly the same team who created There. Will Harvey is leading the project, I have not seen it recently. Second Life members have something this strange hate towards anything Therian. I myself find There to be a casual get away.

If it would go more VR and metaverse-y i'd download it. The fact is its a chat client.

I downloaded it and had a look. It is *very* There-like. Make an av, pay for more stuff and chat. You can get various things to change the chat environment or you av. All cost. If you just want to chat it seems ok but for me, I already have a chat network on other platforms.

I wouldn't compare IMVU to SL at all. It would be more comparable IMHO to the new gmail chat or better yet Y!, since you can change the backround in Y!.

Many people have played There, though I have not. At a very base level though it is like SL (since SL is the only metaverse community game I have ever played). There's a currency, you can customize an AV, you can create your own items and such to sell to others. I am not trying to compare it to SL, I am stating "similarties" only.

OMG it's like a 3D virtual "Precious Moments" thing!
