If I recall, Venice was annexed off as a smaller parcel near Nexus Prime, by the Welcome Area. They may have moved.

Unless its gone, it's at the West side of Bonifacio(sp I always misspell it somehow). I think its still there though.

The early experiments with themed areas were Darkwood, Wild West Town, Nexus Prime, Yamato and Venice.
These didn't take up an entire sim at first. Darkwood expanded north, Nexus expanded south. Yamato was abandoned, and picked up by the Lindens. Wild West Town shared a sim with Native American Village (Oak Grove), which has now been replaced with Busy Ben's. _____________________

The new continent has sims like Iris and environs that appear to be all water, with walkways as the roads.

I think Venice is still around.. in Bonifacio, if I'm not mistaken. It's a pretty place near the city sims and Dore.

I'm curious to know what was *intended* for Yamato as well, but AFAIK, it's become the Dore Orientation Stations for Residents to get re-acquainted with their SL basic skills.

Do you know what the had been intended for Yamato? I own some land there and was curious seeing the name in your post. Yamato is in Dore, and it's all Linden-owned. It was developed as a sort of pan-Asian medieval village fairly early on during beta testing, sometime before I started, anyway, and then apparently abandoned. Rumor was that its creators went on to bigger and better things. There was a lot of concern that it would go poof, and we gave a lot of thought as to how it could maybe be incorporated into DarkWood, in order to save it, but the Lindens stepped in and saved us a lot of tiers. It had an unreal amount of detail, the thing you only see with beta-style construction, but it's been trimmed down a lot and there are even some bits missing. The very decadent secret love nest hidden way down in the tunnels under it is one of them, unfortunately... |

Thanks David .. sounds like there are two .. the village you describe and the Sim named Yamato where I own property. I'll have to check the other one out. ... going to Dore now .. Thanks again ![]() Jim |

Hiro and Anshe are terraforming Venice like sims... I think it's the new way to do roads.
It does make a lot of sense. a) They look like cool roads b) You don't have to rez / take up prims to do roads c) Boats are probably the one of the best land based vehicles. d) Everyone wants to live on an island Makes for cool looking sims ![]() _____________________
