Hello, I am interested in Second life and was thinking of starting to play, but I was wondering some things:

While I was in beta I played on my computer with 384 mb ram, 26 gb hardrive, 1300 mhz and a radeon 9100 and it lagged (computer lagg, not internet lagg) why? Because If I am going to play I want to be actually able to have a good time without having to worry about computer lagg

Approximatly how many play this game? how many accounts are registered or how many players are online at peaktime? thanks

Welcome to your SL! Go into the Edit menu, and then into Preferances. From that, go to the Display tab, and lower your draw distance. Press alt + 1 and check your FPS.

I believe there must be at least 1000 subscribers by now, with well over 150 online at one time. We are a small community, but, growing daily! :)

Esaul, about lag, go to edit, click prefrances, and then lower your draw distance a bit. Lag is a problem that will be fixed soon, but until then that will help a ton, I promise :)

For the more technically minded - the problem is actually NOT the asset server (or 'asshat' as you prefer to affectionately call it herein).

Esaul, there is something in preferences you can do to help reduce lag. I'm not sure what it is, but you might wanna check with James Miller or Darwin Appleby. Either one of them would know.
