As Willow mentioned last night, there is a story that the people who bought the bridge actually thought they were buying Tower Bridge (the raising bridge with the two towers), but I'm sure that's just an urban legend.

Isn't it? :confused:

I'm really not sure but will investigate that. I have been to Lake Havasu and never heard any story like that. Interesting fact though, when they reassembled the bridge in Arizona they decided to only build it for 2 lanes of traffic. Therefore there was leftover bridge material. You can buy a piece of the bridge in the numerous tourist trap shops . :D

It might be true, but I suspect it was a story that originated in Britain to serve the purpose of helping us feel superior. :rolleyes:

yes i heard that they wanted tower bridge. but you know us british, grab anything to make the yanks seem ignorant. its a confidence thing. the ol' 'little guy, big attitude' complex ;)
