If the Police Blotter reads a bit thin this week, it’s because we’ve had a remarkably quiet stretch here in Second Life. A cynical or paranoid mind might look at all this contented happiness and think – it's all just a little too quiet. I’m not going to go down that particular road, however. No sir. I’m going to enjoy the peace and harmony.
A quiet week, of course, doesn’t imply one free of Police action. After the frenzied political hijinks of the Memorial Day weekend climaxed in the return of the Outlands wall to its original function – being a wall – one Resident delivered an effective coda to the entire debacle by declaring the dawn of People’s Republic of Second Life. While the size of the signs erected caused many to liken them to the visual blight of roadside billboards, and the author’s choice of language was more coarse than absolutely necessary, everything was handled within the bounds of proper political discourse. Indeed, the proposed flag of the People’s Republic seems to have been an unmitigated hit!
A few underage players have surfaced again – and I do mean again. Two younger Residents who had been previously shown the door found their way back. While these enterprising youths were adroit enough to get in again, they were not clever enough to conceal that they were, in fact, still underage. Both have been escorted out once more.
Anything else? A few obnoxious Residents made trouble at events, a handful of shootings broke the calm in safe areas, and public nudity on PG sims hit an all time low – there wasn’t any! A quiet week indeed.
Statistics: Five accounts of harassment, intimidation, or vandalism, two instances of inappropriate content on a PG sim, four reports of disruptive behavior, and two complaints of an undisclosed nature. As a result of these complaints and our subsequent investigations, two residents were ejected, four warnings were issued, and one case is pending.
