Hey everyone. I've been working on a problem for a while now, but I have not found a solution. Hopefully by asking the more experienced players I might find out how to do this.
I'm currently in the process of making a business and I just recently found someone who would like to be a partner to this business. How would we go about setting up the store so that we are both owners (as well as sharing the profit from the business)? Is there a way or should I basically just record how much money we make every time I log on and give him his share?

Hello Rising:
Hopefully in 1.1 we will get more control over this type of thing, but for now, there's somethings you can do.
First, have one of you own the land and pay those taxes, while the other builds/buy the store and pays taxes on that. (By the way, I am currently putting on finishing touches on an Art Deco Style Store in Kissling which will be for sale soon.)
Second, be sure that everything in your store is owned by one of you. This way when you log in you can look at your account history and be able to see what you got and figure out what you owe your partner.
Lastly, if you would like to be able to pay your partner when they are offline, get a hold of Cal Rogers. He and I use a system that allows us to pay each of our partners what they are owed when a house/structure is bought. I'm willing to bet he can massage that system so you can just type in what you owe your partner and be done with it.

Darrly Chang and I faced the same issues when starting D&D Dogs. Over time, we did exactly what Bob suggested. I owned most of our land, and Darrly owned the buildings and dogs.
Now, land taxes are way higher than object taxes, so it's just a matter of keeping an eye on them and making sure you both are pretty even. We ended up releasing a bunch of land and buying within our means (I tended to go overboard on land)
Another suggestion: Put up two voting booths, one for each of you, near each other. We had one voting booth for the dogs area, and mine was at my old shop, so Darrly was getting way more votes that way. We now redesigned our entire area and have equal voting.
Oh, and a good solution we were using for splitting up money when one of us was offline was to simply have a donation box for each of us. If I was offline, Darrly would simply pay my donation box my share, and vice versa.
