So the US military says that they got something that will cause shock and awe for all of us. POLL! This isn't so much of a poll because I'm allowing you to place "Other" and what other as a voting topic.
What is this thing that will cause shock and awe?: 1: A big farkin' lazer beam. 2: A big farkin' explodey thing. (bomb) 3: A big farkin' electrical storm type thing. I go with 1 because I saw news reports about how we got lasers working and I wouldn't be surprised if the US military wants to show them off to a country with the technology of a third world. Anyone else? PS: Sorry bout all the "farkin'" It's just that I'm everyone's daily reminder to fark  _____________________

Europe has been using lasers for a while. (They are the blinding kind.) If you want to shock and awe me, show up with a real mechagodzilla. Now THAT would be impressive.

Well the laser I'm talking about is somthing along the lines of Star Wars lasers. It's not to blind, it's to destroy. It looks like a huge spotlight mounted on a tower, and has the diameter of about 18-20 feet. I saw a picture of it, I just want to see a picture of it in action
but this is all moot, the shock and awe is just a shuck and jive of a bunch of bombs, but pretty when you watch on television nonetheless... _____________________

Well, what they're referring to is that they're performing a series of boming attacks on the city of Baghdad, taking out communications, munitions, etc. Each wave is progressively stronger and more frightening from the ground, and the US has barely touched what it's capable of (which far exceeds what it will actually do.) The hope, then, is to destroy Sadaam's ability to lead his army, and display such a show of force that his soldiers and leaders either take themselves out of the conflict or turn on Sadaam himself. It's an intriguing and new strategy that tries to avoid actually firing on any more Iraqi soldiers on the ground then is absolutely necessary.
This is curious when you compare it to Sadaam's current strategy: collapse around Baghdad, and make the conflict as prolonged and bloody as possible so that the US looks as evil and malicious as they wish to make Sadaam look. With a lot of military operations taking place in civilian centers and the press statements coming out of Iraq, they're performing their own strategy as well as can be expected. I'm not knocking either side of the public bickering going on. This is a flat statement of what's going on. For the people going back and forth about this war, you're all right to varying degrees, and you're all also wrong by some as well. |

This morning like 50 B-52 bombers took off from England... So they shoudl be bombing the f#$%? out of iraq by now right? did anyone else hear about this?

They are developing a boeing(sp?) with on big *** laser on it. but being the peace loveing county we are thier using it for anti-ICBM fire
 even though it can take out a tank accuratly from 20,000 ft. |
