This probably beyond my abilities, but could someone explain how clothing is actually made for the game.

there are two ways. the first is a texture map. if yoiu buy an avatar texture bundle pack, there is a set of textures in there that show the wire meshes that make up each part of the avatars body. you take those textures into an image editing program like photoshop, or paintshop pro, and use them as a template to make a texture which you upload and wear.

the other way is by making primitives that you then attach to your avatar. the ones that work the best are the places that move around too much, like shoes, capes, gloves, helmets...

hope that helps a bit

Thanks for the info.

I've seen the meshes. I wasn't sure if there was a way to play around with them in game or not.
Do the meshes only produce that skin hugging type of clothing or can you make bulkier looking stuff with it?
What I'm looking for is a proper looking trench coat that doesn't wrap itself around my legs. Something that looks more like a heavy coat. Is such a thing easy to make?

for a trench coat you'll want to use primitives rather than the meshes.

I have the texture bundle pack, but how do I get the meshes saved to my hard disk so I can play in PhotoShop?
