Is it possible to map a surface w/ an HTML doc Nstead of an image file? or would that involve having an internal web browser for SL?

I was thinking about books & libraries, seems to me that to have a bonnified book of more than 16 pages (asuming legiblebility in a 256X256 segment of texturemap) would get purdy messy with tons & gobs of texturemaps to load (I.e a meager 100 page book would require something like 13 page textures ( asuming the afore mentioned legibility, and front & back mapping on each page) at 1024X each texture,, every book, the math gets ugly fast for a large library.

But HTML is much lighter (assuming little or no illustrations in the book)

I've been drinking espresso after midnight again,, can ya tell?

are you looking to have it change textures/pages when you click it page or hit an arrow? There exists a script for a single page/panel that has very little code that will take your textures from inventory and one after the other show page by page.

Very little code and doesn't matter how many textures are in inventory. I didn't relook it up but under the scripting forum its either problem #4 or #5. under basic/beginner. Ths script goes by arrow keys.

I figured we could do something like that, but to make the book useable by everyone, you'd have to load every page image into the contents folder,, and you'd have to do that for evey book,, and THAT is where the bottle neck happens... I think

anyways.. I figgured texturing it w/ HTML would be lighter than X number of bitmaps at Y resolution for Z number of pages
