The whole list below was not a priority
second life needs to fix the authentication problem i know people who have not been able to access second life for days this is stupid so flaming stupid why bother to fix stuff when the major parts of the server is broken no people can get in or very few so just fix what is needed then fix un important stuff people have paid a membership fee to use this game some people have even paid yearly so get this authentication problem sorted or exspect requests for refunds as people wil start to leave in the droves if you at LL are not carefull
Second Life 1.6.5(5) May 5, 2005 ================================
* Fixed bug where idle/away from keyboard residents would not be logged out for inactivity. * The "Stop" button for animation steps in the new gesture window works again. * Land in estates can no longer be set for sale. * You cannot buy a parcel for L$0 unless you are the authorized buyer. * You cannot find a L$0 parcel in the directory unless you are the authorized buyer. * Find Places not longer shows land on non-visible islands/estates. * Text hovering over objects set with the LSL script command llSetText() now correctly wraps at 1000 pixels instead of 300. * Replaced the "nice snapshot" in the Library photo album. * Edit tools window now correctly remains minimized while walking. * Fixed a performance problem with certain QuickTime media streams. * Simulator crash recovery is more reliable. * Attachments save on teleport only if they have changed since the last teleport or login. Scripted attachments always save. This makes teleports faster and reduces the load on our central "asset server." * Internal changes to llGetNextEmail() reduce load on our central database.

The release notes is not the Canonical List. They were so busy adding in fixes for the problems that they most likely didn't update the damned list.
The other things were added before everyone shit a brick.

You seem to forget so soon. 1.6.5 also is fixing the other "we need now" bugs that we were complaining about. This entire log-in issue seems to have come about rather suddenly. The fact that they where able to add a fix for the log-ins is more then I could have asked for. I am sure that stuff in this patch was already finished by the time that these other issues came about. Calm down, let the dust settle, and let us see what come out.

You cant expect everyone on their staff to be the ideal people to fix comm and db issues. Might as well have the ones not best suited to fix the major problem work on something else, or at least ordering the pizza for the ones dealing with it.

From: Dnate Mars This entire log-in issue seems to have come about rather suddenly. Not to be a pedant, but the login issue has been with us for countless months, it's just that now it's reached critical mass and it looks like she's gonna blow, cap'n. Please don't think it's sudden, it's not, it's constantly compounded by in-action or action that just hasn't actually made a difference.

Well, your right, it is not sudden in that way, but it seems to have gotten to the critical mass rather suddenly. I never had problems until Friday last week, before then sometime it would take a try or two, but nothing like it became. I am sure will all new software, there will be a little problem or two when you have 1000+ people trying to log in at once.

From: Dnate Mars Well, your right, it is not sudden in that way, but it seems to have gotten to the critical mass rather suddenly. I am sure will all new software, there will be a little problem or two when you have 1000+ people trying to log in at once. It sort of goes in phases but each phase gets progressively worse in my experience. What's happened over the last few days has been on the cards for a long time - we knew that, LL knew that. But they just don't appear to have given it enough priority, maybe until now that is. Let's hope some of that $8mil is left, eh, so they can invest in an infrastructure and/or development work that can solve this problem because with the way growth rates have been going this is a problem that could get much worse before it gets better.
