first push CONT+ALT+DEL 2 times, lets start from a fresh boot.
now run your backup game or a large program thats sucks up resources and play for a couple hours.
when finished, run SL and close the first program / game
next push the windows key WHILE SL is launching
stick your left index finger in your ear and click back over to SL
if you did it right your name and PW will be already entered into the correct fields.
now remove your finger from your ear and cross your fingers. (both hands)
try to connect WHILE your fingers are crossed.
if you do this right you will see the responce " waiting for responce" for about 20-30 seconds.
next wait for the screen to connect to phase one. this screen will look EXACTLY like the origional login screen but dont be fooled, keep your fingers crossed.
connect to phase two, now you will get to the responce " connecting to login server"
at this point it is imparative to walk away (fingers still crossed) and get a drink, because your only half way threw the secret log-in.
when you get back you will have made it to phase 3, this again will look like the origional log-in screen.
this time remove your name and pw, and retype them then connect.
are you still with me?
take a sip of your cold beverage (glad you got it now arent you?)
when you finish phase 4 you will come to the master log-in screen. say a couple cuss words, retype name and pw again, but this time do it in the REVERSE order (PW first)
connect
are you fingers still crossed? if so your doing swell!
go take a potty break and come back, you will be at phase 6 by then! w00t!!!
now this phase is tricky, you need to minimize SL and reopen that first program- remember the one you played for a couple hours? well go play another hour or so.
this will give phase 6 time to boot.
when done close the program and maximize SL again.
connect
this time you will feel like you have earned it, and you have, but be patient all good things take time, especially secrets!
repeat step 1 threw 7, 2 more times and your in! easy wasnt it?

so now the secrets out of the bag, have fun taking advantage and remember who helped you out when the lindens were busy!

I don't know if this was a joke, or what. But here's how to do it:

1. Never pull yourself out of the queue.

2. Keep trying.

LOL, it has been sooo long since I used Win3.1 to remember if it supported ctrl+alt+del x2 or if it was just once.

You forgot one bit that can speed it up significantly:

say the Spongebob line like this:

"and this...and this...and then bring it around town...bring...it...around...town...and this...andthisandthisandthisandTHAT".

You are full of it.

The solution to all your SL problems is:

1. Dump Windowz and run LINUX

2. Dump MS Internet Explorer and run Firefox

If Second Life servers were running on Linux and an Open Source Database such as MySQL, we would not be having all these issues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Death to Micro$oft Windowz

Death to Bill Gates!

i use firefox, it kicks IE's asss! i dont use linix though :/

but truely SL is just getting too big for its britches- they dont have a scaleable system to meet the new demand. but now they are aware of their error, and are working to fix it. i suspect they will have a dofferent loging server, different asset server, and reduce the load all to one server.

till then, follow the instructions above!

Hey! That is my login sequence - you owe me royalty fees!

By the way....screaming obscenities quoted directly from Shakespeare works better.....takes a lot more time to search the net looking for them.

If I can't login, I shut down SL, mess around in the HL2 demo for a while(No, I don't have the full game yet, woe are me's!), and after I've made a stack of cabinets high enough to kill a lesser game hero, I try logging into SL again, by this time having wasted at least two and a half hours. :D
