Where's the thread that I saw the other week on how to manage this? Search is not being helpful

(or maybe I'm being thick)

Help appreciated, as it's in a worthy cause (conversion of the masses!) ...

Shebanging means using SL on a 56k modem. It sucks, just ask shebang. What you do is go to the network settings and reduce them to the barest minimums. Ask Shebang Sunshine herself for what numbers she uses, personally I would drop everything down to 0 and just sit in IM. She once took like 5 hours to fly across a few sims, if i recall correctly.
If you dont have her card she hangs out at Native American Village in Oak Grove. If you see her she will look gray all the time due to lack of bandwidth to upload her av's textures =(

Thanks, Eggy. I was trying to find examples to prove to my friend that it's possible to play with a lower machine (and line) than the one in the specs, with judicious selection of SL display options.

But it looks like he needs to figure out how to rez RL$.

(Sorry, Darwin, at the time I wrote that, I was about to go crosseyed with fatigue!)

Oh LOL I didn't read the title. Agreed with Eggy, but I think most important is draw distance, because if you have a good enough computer you can do a little bit more.

Wha? Actually she looks fine. Her avs textures, once initially introduced to the game are stored on the server, so the only reason she would be gray to you is if the server->you connection is poor, regardless of hers.
