Wow those are amazing - I am a huge fan of the game series, and to see what they did with those animations - it is completely a work of art.

Just watched all of them. DAMN! The shot selection and editing are remarkably crisp and epic. The director does an amazing job blending the tradtional "epic" movie style (think Lord of the Rings) with a very legit cinematic representation of the 8-bit Mario Bros world we all know so well. The simulated depth of field adds a lot to the interior shots but doesn't go overboard and break the chunky chunky 80's styling. The music selections form an exceptionally gripping soundtrack -- It's amazing what the right music can do for a film, but you really need to know what music to use. This guy definitely does. I'm also thrilled by all the classic sound effects being used to flesh out the dramatic moments of the piece -- the Goomba squishes, the mushroom pops, the shell sliding.
I think that this is so brilliant it deserves wide recognition. This is the prequel to the Mario Bros tale we never got but always needed. Where Nintendo has dilluted their characters to cartoony extremes, the director here succeeds in elevating them to the heroic depth we always suspected. Watch these. All of them. _____________________

Three thumbs up!! I had to share this with co-workers - we were completely enthralled.

Amazing! That made my week. Wonderfully done. I'd go on with more praise, but Enebran pretty much said it all in his eloquent review.
I eagerly await Part V. _____________________
