A reminder about personal attacks

I've recently seen a couple threads starting up that exist solely to target personal attacks on specific individuals.

I have not edited them. I have deleted them.

I will be deleting such threads in their entirety if I see any more.

These forums are about openly sharing ideas. They are not a place to start threads that target specific individuals or encourage personal attacks.

P.S. Please read my signature. Thank you.

I would like to clarify a few things.

First of all, it is not our policy to typically delete entire threads. We want to give people the most freedom possible in these forums. Our policy is to edit out things that inappropriate, or to lock threads that are inappropriate.

I deleted those threads because I felt they were started with inappropriate intentions from the onset. But in retrospect, I realize that kind of moderating is not consistent with our existing moderator policy.

So, I will not be "nuking" threads left and right, despite what I said before. I spoke out of turn (and, yes, as a human being, out of frustration). To be honest, we moderators need better tools to help us hold people accountable to their actions and the Community Standards on the forums. We know some things slip under the radar, and we all apologize for that. We need to do a better job as moderators, and frankly we need better tools to help us.

I'm happy to say that we've been discussing this problem and how to solve it. We've just made a decision to really focus on implementing new moderator tools that will allow us to better keep track of whenever anyone violates the Community Standards. We're going to be designing it and setting it up ASAP, and this will greatly help us make sure that everyone in the forums is following the Community Standards. And if people *don't* follow those standards, we will be much better equipped to warn, suspend, or ultimately ban those individuals. As quickly and efficiently as possible.

Please be sure to re-read the links below. Together we can keep this forum a supportive and dynamic place where people are free to speak their minds. Thanks for listening.
