Why is having half a life almost better than having a second one?

Havok2 in HL2 is really amazing. It looks better than any game I have ever seen, and it plays smoothly. Im surprised that it plays so well on my system with as much eye candy as it has.

Is anyone going to ask at the tech town hall about the progress of Havok2 for SL? I imagine performance issues in SL will be greatly improved if Havok2 is implemented.

Loki, is the gravity gun as fun as the videos make it out to be? ;) I haven't played it yet but... ah... ragdolls.

CAN YOU IMAGINE AN AVATAR DOGPILE IN SL?!?! LOL. :D

I wouldn't hold your breath for Havok 2, I really wouldn't. My guess is that there's something holding this up on the technical side that's a pig to sort out, or that cannot be integrated easily, and so it's been put on the back burner. It all went very quiet after Andrew stopped posting on his thread about Havok 2 progress - that was a long time ago now, yet to read Andrew's posts Havok 2 was coming along well....then nothing.

Ask the question now and all you get is fluff again.

Gravity gun is a blast. Its very useful in the single player game.

HL2 has a multiplayer DM now. I was just messing around with a couple of friends and we used the gravity guns to play catch with the junk laying around and then we stacked up all the junk we could find into a huge pile. We even played soccer, with a junk car as a ball. The Gravity Gun cant pick up the car, but you can knock it around by blasting it. We were using either side of an alley as the goal for the car soccer. Fun stuff indeed.

Because it's been promised to fix a variety of long-standing "issues" with Second Life, including, but not limited to:

1) Allowing the ability to prevent cameras from moving through solid prims,
2) Allowing for more prims per server,
3) better camera movement in general,
4) Robust suspension systems and other advanced physics simulations,
5) Getting rid of physical "deep thinks", and allowing for more concurrent physical stuff going on at once,
6) Defanging the evil "hollow cut torii".

The problem is, it's like the biggest project int he history of mankind, apparently, but they only have one beleagured soul (Andrew Linden) working on it. He used to give sporadic updates, but then he caught some bout of the Flu of Doom or something, thus knocking the universe off course.

Havok 2 is an amazing step forward from what we're used to... Half Life 2 is direct proof of that... you can't really say anything until you see individual pieces of cable hanging from a gigantic, moving, character-driven robot, each swinging independently and swaying in any wind.

Then you usually say "wow".

Heck yea! Especially when you run out of ammo and need to throw whatever is available at the zombies!

I particularly enjoy using the gravity gun in combination with paint cans :)

Just imagine if SL ever has such graphics, especially the avatars!

from my understanding, parts of Havok2 have already been implemented. It is not some thing you will see all at once with an announcement of "Havok2 now implemented!". It has to be rolled out in phases over a long period of time.
