Event idea: SL Siege

I'd love to see an organized competition between builders and destroyers, to see if the builders can create 100% physical, non-linked designs which the destroyers try to take down using 100% physical, mechanical, kinteic distance attacks with primative, Newtonian scripts (such as ApplyImpulse, ApplyRotationalImpulse, etc).

It would be like a good old fashioned castle siege, without all the burning oil and catapulting of plauge-infested corpses.

Call it Second Life Siege 2005.

If you want to keep the women away, inject a Monty Python/Holy Grail theme and require the flung missiles to be shaped like cows, swallows (preferably European), or coconuts and give the builders french accents.

Run away!

Ok, that could still be a lot of fun.

You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, you sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called "Arthur King," you and all your silly English K-nig-hts.

I am so in for this. We must build a jack-rabbit!

Well, we'll have to get avatar decapitations added as a feature first.

A historical point of fun for early SL Residents was making giant physical towers, destabilizing the works, and then riding them down. I can personally attest to have done a bit of this "time travel" with Eggy Lippmann and Christopher Omega.

A key point at present, of course, happens to be how Physics performance suffers when under such duress.

really cool idea.

How about both teams try to destroy each other’s castle. Parcel restrictions keep them out of each other’s land, with a no-man’s land in between. Flying not allowed.

There is a game similar to what you describe (alhtough maybe not completely on the physics level). It's called Castle Wars, and is currently set up in the Sandbox area of Montmartre. RacerX Gullwing made it, and he'll sometimes run games after his weekend-morning snail races.
