Attn: Second Life Bloggers

Every year (Well, almost every year - they took a break last year to overhaul some things) a fine group of people organizes and executes this special event called a "Blogathon." Basically, it's like any other 'thon-for-charity thing - the deal is, you blog once every half hour for a 24 hour period, and get people to sponsor you.

It's fun... typically 'thonners start up Yahoo conferences or hang out in IRC and help keep each other up. Often a blog will have a particular theme, and whatnot - posting random trivia every half hour or what have you. You pick your charity, and then you have your sponsors send in their pledged amounts when you complete the 'thon directly to the charity - this way, you can be sure no fraud is involved.

Anyway, I thought I might "gently encourage" my fellow SLifers to take a peek at it when the ball gets rolling on Blogathon '05. The site is at www.blogathon.org - although it's still got it's "Coming Soon" clothes on. If anyone is interested, I'll keep you posted about when the site is actually up and running and you can learn more straight from the horse's mouth, as it were.

I can tell you that I WILL be participating as a blogger this year... and I'd definitely love to have other SLifers participate on their blogs, too. If you CAN'T participate as a blogger, though, perhaps you COULD participate as a sponsor of a blogger of your choice.

Hmm...I wonder if any Residents will do a "Spend 24 hrs blogging from within SL" ? 24 solid hours of blogging and spending time inworld. That would be something!
