I may be posting this in the wrong place entirely, but maybe someone can direct me if I am since this is my first post here.
I have been an SL member for a little under a month now. I recently convinced my husband to join SL because he saw how much I love it. However, because we used my CC which is the same one I used to sign up for MY account it made him join immediately without a 7 day trial. Does anyone know if this could be the reason I didnt get the 1000L referral fee for him becoming a paying member?
I e mailed support on 6/6 and asked but have received no response from them other than an automated "we will get to you soon" message.
Thanks for any help

not a stupid question at all. Your not getting the referral fee prob comes from using the same credit card, since LL doesn't want to pay out referrals just for someone creating a ten dollar basic ALT account on their card.

Not a stupid question. It isn't elaborated very clearly on the signup page. If you wanted the referral fee, the best way is to either use a different credit card or refer to another friend and get them to agree to split the bonus with you But if it's on the same CC, as was stated, there's no bonus. Otherwise we would all be busy making and cancelling alts instead of actually logging in.

well I greatly appreciate the responses. You have all been very kind. I was hoping for the fee for the same reason, to shop. Ive found it very hard to keep Linden around and I really havent got the cash to buy it ... so my husband said his joining was a good thing all the way around. LOL
I guess i will just have to sell his pixels on a corner *snicker*

I can't find it anywhere and I did an alt with a premium account...same cc, referred by me, but I didn't get any Lindens...I did the same thing and said a friend inworld referred me, and she got the lindens...all on the same cc...what the heck??? you are limited to 5 alts, if you pay full annual price for each...why can't you get the referral bonus??? Please tell me where to find this information. T From: Cindy Claveau Not a stupid question. It isn't elaborated very clearly on the signup page. Depends on how mathematically impaired one is What I was actually thinking was that some folks create a bunch of alts for the 1-time $9.95 and then harvest the $50L/week stipend off them without paying anything more. But you only get referral bonuses for premium accounts. Not Basic.

I got a friend of mine to join, and he got a basic membership (and is still basic), and I got the L$1000 credit as soon as he confirmed his membership. - Jon

Maybe he mistyped your name into the referal fields? Also, basic account referals are L$1000, premium account referals are L$2000 unless this was changed recently. So, get your friends to move up! I mean, if you sign up on a quarterly or annual contract, LL is actually paying YOU to play. Premium stipend is L$2000 a month, or about $8 USD. Quarterly payments come out to $7.50 a month, and annual payments come out to $6 a month. So, what's the excuse? And you get a free 512 land tier to go with it!
