Sorry bout the non-connectibility folks --- while were were chatting this morning, my system froze. Couldn't even move the mouse pointer. I got up and went to do some stuff, thinking I'd let the system "rest" for a few minutes. Twenty minutes later, everything was still frozen. Tried the 3 finger salute. Nada (erm... nothing, I mean). Gave it another 10 minutes, then hit the reset button.

Oh boy.

How do the words "Registry File Failure -- cannot load the hive file" [ ..... ] "it is corrupt, absent or not writable" sound to y'all?

Struck fear into my heart, lemme tell ya.

However many hours later it is now, I've got a clean install of winblows, and I'm back online with firewall runnin'. That's it so far, tho. I'll be scramblin' like a mad woman to get everything operational and back up to date. Chat -should- be back up later tonight. (Cross yer fingers that I can import the data from SQL!).

Not sure if I'll be in world tonight or not. I'm kinda sick of looking at my computer at the moment.

Blech.

I know when your computer is sick, it really just throws off your day. Still hope you make it in-world though.

Chat's back up. I lost some config (everything that was stored in the registry, like IRC client access IPs), but the database copy was good, so all registered nicknames are still registered, etc.

I'm still installing stuff, so I may need to reboot another time or two today, but I'll say something in chat if/when I need to -- as long as I'm able to. Was on the receiving end of attempted ICMP action this morning. Firewall caught most of it, but it still affected the system pretty badly.

If'n it ain't one thang it's another. :/ =)

Sorry for the Private....I didn't even see this thread b4 I wrote to you. Now I know why my mIRC isn't working, but I still can't log in using the java client either.

OMG....no SL and now NO CHAT !!

I'm starting to get the shakes here........

Trace, try again now -- I'm seeing you in the firewall logs, and IT says you're allowed, but something somewhere else is gettin' in the way. I just tweaked a lil...
